I make video players for NRK for a living, and I live to ride bikes in the forest and tinker with modular syntesizers. I can also juggle.

p75 and p90 JavaScript bytes on the web have exploded since May, 2025—easily the largest 10 month period based on HTTP Archive data since 2023. The long-tail is getting worse, very quickly. Gemini, what happened in May 2025?

I just added this commit message to our repository: "Add Tardis module to enable time travel" Is this the peak of my career in software development? Where do I go from here?

It struck me today: if everybody follows the recommendation to wait n days to install dependencies to avoid supply chain attacks, nobody will detect the bad package until n days has passed. And we're all in the same boat. Again.

Sometimes it's the little things in life. My (work) life improved by _a lot_ when I discovered split view in chrome, displaying two tabs at once. Two for the price of one!

There will LoAF, Web Vitals, RUM measurements and maybe some tight mode thrown in too. And lots of experiences from working on an app for chrome-based smart tvs with lowest bid hardware.

I had a passing idea that it would be cool to do a talk about everything in our tech stack/domain (i.e the things I have to be aware/handle/interact with from time to time) and it struck me: how many _days_ would I need to talk about it all. There just so much

Maybe it could be useful to model this as an onion or something (not radar, everybody has those) with the day-to-day stuff in the center and the more peripheral stuff further out. To get an overview of how many topics and their size you have to care about

And we border on user experience with the questions of will the user really understand this feature? Do they understand what happens when they push this button? Do they really need to? Even if they are my 80 year old neighbour, who spend most of their time on the one channel

...because she can't remember how to navigate to another channel. I can't really see an AI LLM do this for the foreseable future, but maybe I'm just being an old man yelling at clouds. Who knows.

The frontend parts with its myriad of dependency trees, build tools, browser inconsistencies, safari-16-for-mobile-does-weird-shit, typescript, linting, pipelines, deployment and all that jazz is just the icing on the cake.

When we get into media CDNs, video streaming protocols, encoding/compression, subtitles (my god subtitles can be complicated at least in our context!), factors affecting playback on a users shitty tv with lowest bid hardware from 2017 things really get deep.

The biggest lie the devil ever told was the one in Outlook where it claims "What a productive day! You've accomplished a lot" when your inbox is empty. W.T.F? I've accomplished moving the emails somewhere else.

I was today days old when I learned about the `touch-action` css property and the `pointercancel event`, fixing an android bug. Turns out chrome for android is more picky about these things than mobile safari. developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

developer.mozilla.orgtouch-action - CSS: Cascading Style Sheets | MDNThe touch-action CSS property sets how an element's region can be manipulated by a touchscreen user (for example, by zooming features built into the browser).

Don't mess with zooming on a website. Don't mess with scrolling on a website. Don't mess with default cursors on a website. Don't mess with the default Tab order. Don't mess with the back button in the browser. Thank you.

You think you have the topics for a talk nailed, but then you start researching and all these new topics crop up, and the slide tally just keeps increasing! Super cool, actually to discover all these new things. But then again not so cool :-(

LANG TRÅD! Ting henger sammen.

I have a problem. It's a first-world problem, but let's face it all my problems are first world problems. The last book of @aptshadow.bsky.socials Tyrant philosophers is out dec 5 and Brandon Sandersons Wind And Truth, last book of the Stormlight Archive series, dec 6. Should I cancel christmas?
