Whoa, we used to choose Deno for our standalone utility once because it had the fastest cold start, and now it becomes even faster!
Deno 2.9.5 is out 🦕 New: deno compile --engine quickjs, an experimental QuickJS backend for compiled binaries. Same CLI, same source: V8 -> 64 MB QuickJS -> 35 MB ~45% smaller, and it cold-starts ~25% faster. github.com/denoland/den...

i'm really proud of this policy. it's not perfect, but i think it's close to the best that was possible given all the constraints. i'm excited that this will make things easier for mods and reviewers, and hopeful that it will spark change in Rust's governance. blog.rust-lang.org/inside-rust/...

In case you’re using File, you will need to do some type casting in TS in case you are dealing with some fetch data. Blob, on the contrary, can be obtained from fetch response directly, w/o any further casting.
Curious observation: people are frequently using File objects in browser to do some stuff in JS. At the meantime, it is quite narrow type with the specific use cases, mainly emitted by file inputs. Blob here seems to be more generic and suitable type.

I’ve posted it before, but it feels evergreen The two hardest problems in Computer Science are 1. Human communication 2. Getting people in tech to believe that human communication is important
I think we need an inverse thread where we talk about things that normal intelligent people universally agree upon that are for some reason hot takes within your profession
Great news. I’ve been using Lit and web components in my pet projects during the last couple of years, and see no reason, why shouldn’t they be preferred over React.
Under the hood of MDN’s new frontend. @leo.mca.is explains how MDN replaced React with web components and Lit, using server components for static content and lazy-loading interactive islands. #mdn #webcomponents developer.mozilla.or...
Quick update: Gemma 4 was quite useful for stack trace analysis in Go. Despite I’ve got a wrong action, general description of problem was precise and clear.
Just tried Gemma 4 (31B) on my M4 Max/48Gb Mac via Ollama. There were 3 use cases: research, infrastructure task and implementing well-known algorithm. Research scenario hasn’t produced any useful result for me, but the topic was actually complicated. (1/N).
Ready to share my first WIP milestone from my simple arcade space arcade game. Simple player ship mesh and moving sky beneath (implemented it on custom shader). Powered by @lit.dev and @threejs.org
Is this Umbrella Academy season 5 spoiler?
They need to make a series where secret agents go back in time to shove our tech billionaires into lockers extra-hard to prevent this mess, but they end up shaping their current personalities instead. One guy will try to handle Steve Jobs and be repelled by the smell of his feet.

Great guide about entry point declarations via “exports” field in package.json. This year I was requested to support seamlessly both es and cjs in my libs at least twice, so this feature becomes more and more important.
Confused about the `exports` field in package.json? I wrote a guide to break it down and walk you through it! 👉 hirok.io/posts/node-exports-guide
Great tool. I was working on console binary utility, written on typescript, and Deno was our final choice among the other runtimes just because of startup performance.
Deno compile makes it easy to: ✅️ share a single binary without Deno or dependencies ✅️ support all major OS ✅️ maximize performance and more: deno.com/blog/deno-co...

Wow. Sounds like very cool idea, that can be very useful for any tech product.
