if you find a cool security bug I bet you could make the most money from it by selling it to an AI startup so they can pretend their tooling found it

Our position is it's entirely possible this is going to lead to a waterfall of critical vulns, but our job in building general defenses and working towards efficiently doing vulnerability management was already correct and we just proceed like that.

Finally, the AI feature we all wanted and needed: Amazon now creates an AI “podcast” about products where two AI “hosts” discuss the product and take your questions as if it’s a call-in show. www.businessinsider.com/amazon-ai-ge...

businessinsider.comAmazon has invented the world's least necessary podcastAmazon's new AI shopping podcasts are like QVC without the humans. They turn product reviews into mini-shows — complete with a live Q&A.

If you're leaving GitHub, we'd be very happy to chat! We work remotely, pay top-end of European salaries and are hell bent on building the best code forge ever. We're hiring for one intermediate/senior role right now: jobs.tangled.org/software-eng.... Go, Firecracker, distributed systems.

You know, now is probably a good time to recruit GitHub employees. I know that if I worked there, I would be actively interviewing (...and being oddly silent on social media)

While Apple described the issue as a bug, it is one that the FBI has leveraged multiple times to recover the content of Signal messages, according to records.  It's thanks to subscribers that allow for us to continue to report on these things and push for changes. www.404media.co/apple-fixes-...

Every time I see someone talk about Claude I think about how they switched from female to male names as soon as they wanted the robots to seem like experts vs personal assistants.

I vibe-coded two new projects yesterday in one afternoon/evening… I can see how this can be addicting 😬 First the Messenger wrapper, second one - I'm doing another attempt at making a simplified and cleaned up version of Capistrano v2, stripping a whole bunch of features from it one after another.

whether it worked out engineering wise is quite different from whether it worked out for the business and their customers. They’ve continued growing exponentially all that time and there seems to be no viable alternative at scale yet.

What this means is that the age of cheap, underpriced AI appears to be ending, or at least the compute crunch means the venture capitalists and investment firms funding OpenAI and Anthropic are going to have to be willing to burn even more cash in order to continue subsidizing their products.

404media.coThe AI Compute Crunch Is Here (and It's Affecting the Entire Economy)Venture capitalists can't subsidize cheap AI forever, and the hunger for more compute is affecting the labor market, the gadget market, and electricity prices.
