The writing/editing of code was never the roadblock for efficiency when writing code. It’s always been about how fast you can problem solve. Instead of truly understanding the options available for the problem you’re trying to solve, Cursor chooses for you and 1/2

the developer doesn’t get to understand why those decisions were made. There are pros and cons to this, but I’d rather manually walk through the problem with copilot than have the LLM make decisions for me that I regret. 2/2

I’m having the toughest time picking a desktop framework to use for a trading app I want to build. I want it to be cross platform (mobile, web too), performant, and have access to great graphing libs. The best ones I’ve found are on .NET, but I’m looking at rust too. Anyone have recommendations?

If you were ever wondering what stock market manipulation looks like, look at what just happened with Trump’s recent pause on tariff announcement and look at the price of the stock market before and after.

Well the market just flew upwards because Trump just announced a 90 day pause on tariffs for all countries besides China. This might end up being a man made “v shape recovery”. I wonder how many of his billionaire buddies knew he was going to do this.

We still have a lot of room to fall in the stock market and we have no signs that we won’t continue going down for the foreseeable future. (Nothing has changed). Prepare accordingly. I won’t be selling, but I won’t be buying yet either.

Anyway with these AI coding experiments I’ve been doing, it’s good to know my skepticism isn’t simply just being old and cranky for the sake of being old and cranky: my instincts (that they’re being oversold by people who have incentives to do so) is still correct

I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff

There is no point trying to scale programming with agents if you can’t get one chatbot to do what you want it to do. I use LLMs to code and they are constantly screwing up and require intervention. Autonomous “vibe coding” makes this 10x worse.

69% of Republicans think colleges have a negative impact on society and 66% of them feel that way about K-12 public schools. This explains so much. Millions of people who hate education and the educated.

My electric bill went up 37% this month since last year. This is because Michigan purchases much of its power from Canada. Now I have door to door salesman pushing solar panels because they think their product is finally affordable considering the alternative. Thanks Trump.

This is such a good take on the current state of LLMs and the industry. “At some point there might be massive layoffs due to ostensibly competent AI labor coming onto the scene, perhaps because OpenAI will start heavily propagandizing that these mass layoffs must happen. It will be a mistake…”
