If you are upset with trans people for our reactions to candidate statements, then I would encourage you to call one of the candidates to complain about the statements. You can still vote for them, but let them know about your displeasure. The base pushing back makes not abstaining easier to swallow

...all the animosity hurled towards trans ppl the last few days is completely misplaced. this is a *cisgender problem*: cis ppl need to decide whether you want us to be part of the anti-MAGA coalition or not. if you do, then call out the Dems pushing us out... juliaserano.medium.com/on-democrats...

I don't doubt the reporting. But the white house is having discussions about potentially pardoning lower level staffers is just as much if not more dooming than anything else posted on here. There is nothing to be done before this happens and the facts matter. Keep moving forward with stuff y'all

I genuinely think we would service justice better if we targeted a system with closer to a 50% conviction rate (at the high end). The dynamic where most prosecutors get experience only winning makes them overconfident and overcharge and bad at high stakes shit. These are both bad dynamics

SE Gyges@segyges.bsky.social

when your conviction rate breaks 95% they should throw you progressively harder cases until you end up below 90% again in this way we can make them go get jared kushner

The obvious difference is that Zuck enjoys Section 230 protections from liability predicated on the assumption that his platform does not engage in editorial decisions and MSNow does not

Mike Masnick@masnick.com

People demanding Zuck be hauled before Congress to explain why No Kings insta was suspended... how would you feel if MAGA GOP hauled MSNow execs to explain why they covered Trump the way they do? Both are editorial choices protected by the First Amendment. If this annoys you...

Can't wait to read the risk disclosures

It really ought to be more discussed the way SCOTUS's contempt for lower courts is destructive to the constitutional order. DOJ thinks it won't be harmed for this behavior in particular. It is probably right. The majority that allows that does damage to the system of fed cts that it sits on top of

Note: In the Sunday night USPS mail rule injunction (DSCC) before Nichols, DOJ has *still* not even filed a notice of appeal, let alone sought to get a stay from Nichols, the DC Circuit, or SCOTUS.

Talarico also deserves to be held to a higher standard. HE IS IN SEMINARY! If he gets credit for the moral certainty that being a man of G_d gives him then he doesn't get to triangulate. Those are incompatible positions. He has shown he is unwilling to follow his moral convictions.

Julia Serano@juliaserano.bsky.social

👇 THIS right here. Talarico, Turek, et al ARE THE ONES WHO CHOSE THOSE POSITIONS. if you're afraid those decisions may alienate pro-trans/LGBTQ+ voters, THEN BLAME THEM, NOT US!

An—as usual—excellent account of what SCOTUS did and did not do today. This case shouldn't make us despair over the election. But, imo, it is still egregious that (presumably) 6 justices signed off on this, and it's narrowness should not exculpate those 6 from condemnation

NEW: What Monday’s Supreme Court election order ruling is and is not. The Republican majority gave Trump a temporary win. It could be short-lived — or it could “foment chaos,” as Justice Jackson wrote, calling out the majority in unusually direct terms. Tonight, at Law Dork:

Not to be too doomery but in any other case Cook v. Trump is step one of the Roberts two step. The way Roberts et al. have been ruling suggests an arrogance that would make them willing to two step the Fed.

Replying to @kylec.bsky.social

The Colorado Democratic Party has formally condemned and censured Governor Jared Polis for granting clemency to Tina Peters. Polis is hereby banned from speaking or being honored at party events. 90% of CDP central committee members voted to reprimand Polis.

You are up to date.
