This is amongst the most impactful two minutes of broadcasting I’ve ever seen. By Emma Murphy, International Editor, ITV News. #Gaza

This is the entire point of the "it's complicated" line of hasbara/Western journalism. It is an intellectual off-ramp for further thought. And so many of us take it. It is a state-sanctioned excuse not to think at all. Because as soon as you actually do, the whole picture unravels

Thought Slime’s monster@slimemildred.bsky.social

One of the highly specific problems of communicating in support of Palestine is that the general public has been so conditioned to accept that the issue is "complicated" that they will intuitively resist any attempt to understand how shallow the Zionist position really is.

“Ms Segal is a lawyer and yet has attempted to provide a report to Australians and our Australian institutions about how we should live our lives and what we may or may not say and even, how we may say it, without a scintilla of evidence provided to back it up. We just have to take her word for it.”

Spot on from @beneltham.bsky.social in @crikey.com.au. Creative Australia's crisis management may have been substandard but the real issue was its staggering lack of judgement and courage, an unforgivable absence for which no-one has been held accountable. www.crikey.com.au/2025/07/03/c...

crikey.com.auCreative Australia's cowardice on Sabsabi can't be erasedCreative Australia will send Khaled Sabsabi to the Venice Biennale after all. The review into the decision reveals cowardice and incompetence.

Disturbing. Something that’s not talked about enough re AI chatbots - they can be manipulated at source. “Instructed to accept as real.” So anyone using them for information is also being manipulated. Thats a lot of power to wield.

I went further on the global Islamophobia context in the revised version of the piece on Zionist activity by front groups in the recent Australian election. The network of networks is illustrative. It’s not just Atlas in any of this rw weirdness but a collation. open.substack.com/pub/lucyham2...

open.substack.comFront Groups working with Zionist actors are promoting IslamophobiaAustralian front groups have been working to promote the idea that the Greens make many cultural identities less safe. It's - loosely - part of a global Islamophobia industry.

Shout out to all the background actors, worth watching one time each (it took me five watches to realise there's someone hanging) Also, still deliciously relevant. 😆 #auspol

The Liberals are BACK!!! (circa 2009)

Listening to Ted O’Brien this morning I was wondering if he’s studied John Howard’s speaking style. The vocal fry, the oddly paced pauses that serve to distract from the bullshit he’s spinning by appearing authoritative (without being). So, this tracks ⬇️ #auspol

We’ve been hearing for months and months that it’s “about to be, about to be,” but it’s been now for a while. There’s no more hospitals. No more food. No more water. No more compassion. It’s now. And we all watched it happen. #palestine #gaza

“isms” are so wildly thrown about and rarely if ever now challenged as a way to shut down and delegitimise.

Appalling interview. Jillian Segal accuses The Greens of "extremism" and Adam Bandt of antisemitic comments, with no evidence. Says the election was a rejection of extremism. But is not referring to Dutton's dog-whistling, or commitment to breach international law. www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...

Being demoted for speaking out against the mass weaponised murder of civilians is a blaring bright red fire alarm. This isn't coming around the corner: the bad times are now. This isn't petty political games - this is a murderous and sinister force exercising its power. We are in danger.

The Conversation AUNZ@aunz.theconversation.com

Speaking to the ABC, the former industry minister said his outspokenness on the conflict in Gaza was part of the reason for his demotion.

If you want to understand why progressive people don't believe in the Labor Party anymore, here's a prime example. Julian isn't interested in justice, he's interested in being comfortable. Equating spreading race hate with opposing genocide should be unforgivable. Centrism is a brain disease.

The demonisation of the Greens in Australian politics is so infuriating, from the left and the right (and the mediocre Labor middle) Adam Bandt has been a very effective member and a good leader - all this chatter about “lack of policy” is I suspect from people who’ve never read Greens policies.

@adambandt.bsky.social will be sorely missed, if ABC is correct in calling Melbourne for Labor. Yes I’ve been a Greens voter - ever since I learned to think. And I think that anyone bitching about a party that pushed for dental in Medicare, relief for renters, Palestine …. try more thinking. #auspol

This description falls squarely within the legal definition of genocide as set out in the 1948 Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute of the ICC.

#UPDATE Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Tuesday a victory for Israel in Gaza means that the Palestinian territory will be "entirely destroyed" before its inhabitants depart for other countries.

That explains a lot. (Not all of it, but a lot). “…figures from…..Freshwater Research…..overestimated Liberal support based in part on miscalculating the number of Labor supporters who voted No in the Indigenous Voice referendum and would defect to Dutton.” #auspol #ausvotes2025

This piece by @jiatolentino.bsky.social is heartbreaking, on so many levels. This hit a nerve: “My kids are at an age when nothing excites them like the chance to do things unassisted. They have just a few years before they learn that adulthood, these days, means ceding more and more to machines.”

They’ve agreed to annex Gaza officially and entirely, instead of simply occupying, and as such conclude their genocidal ethnic cleansing plan and this is how you report it?

BREAKING: Israeli ministers agree on plan to capture all of Gaza and remain there for an unspecified amount of time, two officials say.

I know there’s a lot that’s been disappointing about Labor in the last 3 years and we need to keep up the pressure on them but boy, it’s nice to hear PM’s emphatic acknowledgement of country, and words of compassion. So I’m finishing the whisky happily. Well won Albo #AusVotes2025 #BinNight
