@jensimmons.bsky.social Re Safari 27.1 and the space behind the controls. The problem with viewport-fit=cover isn't the API, it's that it's all or nothing. Opt the page in and every fixed header, footer and banner has to be taught the insets. Miss one and content ends up under the bar.

I'd flip it. Layout viewport stays inside the safe area by default. Then individual elements opt their *paint* out to the edge, something like background-bleed: viewport on a header. Box and contents stay put, only background/border/backdrop extend. Text can never end up behind a control.

That's what Safari already does with the body colour, just generalised. Two more asks: a bottom inset that updates live as the tab bar collapses on scroll, and alignment with Chrome's interactive-widget / safe-area-max-inset so we don't end up writing it three ways.

Nothing at #STLV has topped seeing the work I did for the inglorious treksperts in the wild. You spend so long staring at it on a screen that you forget it’s going to end up in front of actual people. Proper moment

A.T.L.A.S v2.3.0 just dropped. New telemetry tab. Attitude, RCS thrusters, solar arrays, comms, all live from AROW. NASA's Lunar Flyby gallery added. Those far side photos are unreal. Plus a bunch of fixes you won't see but will feel. track-artemis.com #nasa #artemis

I’ve seen a few of these Artemis tracker sites pop up but the thing that’s annoying is none of them are using JPLs API to pull in real data. So I’ve created my own version that does with some sci-fi flare of course. Check it here: lcarsworkshop.com/artemis #nasa #artemis
