www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... For those who’ve been enjoying the #AnimatedActivism show at @lulgalleries.bsky.social this year: another exhibition to check out, featuring a Yorkshire animator from an even earlier generation (more animation here, less activism)
Good to see this press interview from 1978 in Leeds Other Paper - one of the very few publications that’s ever understood why we prefer not to use individual names when discussing collective matters. Good old LOP.
A great #AnimatedActivism exhibition opened last night at @lulgalleries.bsky.social - so here's when the first film by @leedsanimation.bsky.social made front page news in LOP in 1978, plus a two page interview inside. Unlike LOP, btw, the workshop is still going today - respect.
interesting to see what’s changed in almost half a century eh - and what has not…

One night 45 years ago a brown envelope dropped through the letterbox at LOP Towers, giving #LeedsOtherPaper one of its biggest scoops. It was a leaked copy of the government's hitherto secret instructions on what to do in nuclear war. At the time, #ProtectAndSurvive was as scary as it was risible.

Here's a #LeedsOtherPaper splash from 1981, after @leedsanimation.bsky.social had been attacked by another local paper for making a film about violence against women. 2/3
