Things I learned today in the process of checking spellings: the delicious Bahlsen Leibniz chocolate biscuits are named after the great mathematician G.W. Leibniz.

Going through my stock brings up such foolhardy things as the pamphlet by an author whose name is an exact Italian translation of the name of my partner’s supervisor. I bought it 15 or so years ago to amuse my partner and of course still have it.

Flipping between the news and editing a big document of book descriptions, mustn’t confuse defamation and delamination.

Going through old stock, remembering the 1971 illustrated article on a book of fascinating provenance (which I own), where the writer (then owner) superimposes a photo of the inscription (on an endpaper) onto one of the title-page. Makes for an info-rich single image, but otherwise a useless record!

Oh my goodness, another triumph. #smalltriumphs

A triumph of book-keeping is locating an invoice that was posted to you rather than having to ask the other person to email it in pdf for the records.

Running a business in a show home is quite challenging. But if I learn how to make my jobs in progress invisible and then bring them out again when the visitors have gone with a flick of a wrist, I will feel very capable.

Having hidden everything in my room for the photographer (we are moving), I now have no idea where or under which tablecloth anything is. It is liberating and mildly frustrating at the same time.

🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸 News: at the end of this year, we are moving to Madrid. My wife Dr. Marta Cacho Casal has been made manager (coordinadora) of prints and drawings at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (the fine arts academy). Cue much reorganizing at this end, but exciting times for all. 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸

Two bays of rare books with some sense to them (tidying things prior to a visit from an estate agent’s photographer tomorrow).

Michelada at Los Frijoles restaurant on Aviation Boulevard. Food on its way. Wonderful start to a visit in Los Angeles.

Dick Whittington, C14/15 merchant and Mayor of London. On his apocryphal journey into the city he came down what is now the A1 (the Holloway Road and many many other things). He passed metres from our house. Our local hospital is the Whittington.
