I've been working in tech for 30 years 😱 I've worked in industries like: telecom, beauty, banking, motorsport.... At some point, i realised that i was working without any purpose. That's when I decided to use my skills and do something meaningful...

A woman on a bus mentioned an app to Mette Lykke. That conversation turned into a $162M business. Mette had just sold Endomondo. She heard a stranger talk about an app that sells leftover restaurant food. Invested six weeks later. Became CEO six months after that. The app was Too Good To Go.

Every night, restaurants throw away food they couldn't sell. TGTG built a market to sell that food. The numbers: - 120M+ registered users - 175,000+ partner stores in 21 countries - 500M+ meals saved since founding - $162M revenue in 2024 - EBITDA positive, growing 32% year on year - $182M raised

In West Africa, sending money to your family cost 6-10% of whatever you sent. Every time. That was not a market rate. That was the price of having no alternative. Two founders changed it. Drew Durbin and Lincoln Quirk launched Wave. Wave charges 1%. Flat. Deposits are free. Withdrawals are free.

The numbers today: - 20M+ monthly active users across 8 West African countries - 150,000+ agents in the field - $300M+ in total funding - $1.7B valuation (2021) — Francophone Africa's first fintech unicorn - Only African company on YC's top 50 highest-earning startups list for both 2023 and 2024

Two months after Wave launched in Senegal, Orange Money cut its rate to 0.8%. Its market share still fell 8.7% despite subscriber growth. Orange's own Africa head described the situation as "the Amazon model: we burn cash, hoping to kill the competition." They were talking about Wave.

The reason incumbents couldn't win the price war they started: Orange built its cost structure for 8%. Wave built its cost structure for 1%. Cutting the price didn't change the infrastructure behind it.

I always dreamed of being a game dev. Since I was a child playing Atari for the first time. Cursor is making it real. "Create a new game. • Ghosts will be famous people like Elon Musk, Trump, etc"

Here I am, 45 years old, launching another product, trying to make some money… Since 2017, I’ve built 21 products. Only 4 made more than $100. Which means 17 failures. People say you learn from failure, but honestly? It’s exhausting.

I built it because I don’t want to pay for another SaaS subscription just to test if SEO can help my projects grow. My projects aren’t making enough money. I don’t want to be cashflow negative just to experiment.

Every time a project fails, you have to restart. New motivation. New goals. New dreams. Like many of you, I feel the frustration. Lately, I’m excited about AI. Last year, I bought a small AI text-to-voice project. It makes a little each month, and I’m trying to grow it.

Do you really have a SaaS/website if it doesn't have a gradient button? 🤣 The newest addition to my list of projects: Owlendar It finds the keywords, writes the titles, adds to the planner and writes the posts. I'm testing it with 2 websites. Is anyone interested in testing it?

I have a challenge accepted by Andrew from Acquire. I’m challenging him as his valuation tool gave me a 15x my annual revenue as an estimation for my startup anytospeech.com So far, I got a few interested but no LOI. It’s been a month… Let’s see how it’ll end up.

🚀🤖 I launched something for @blueskyshots.com I don't want to be a spammer. It's a bot to create the images. Do you think this is useful? I'm going to bed. I'd love to wake up with loads of images created. bsky.app/profile/blue...

Also D Could you consider making the input box case-insensitive? It took me about four attempts to realize the input is case-sensitive, which caused repeated data fetching failures.
