This is a wonderful study @lwestheuser.bsky.social & Koen Damhuis, showing the unique contribution qualitative research can make to a field dominated by quantitative studies (but, of course, created by qualitative scholars). 👏

We are so excited to launch the call for papers for our second @ecpr-ead.bsky.social conference in Rotterdam next year. Please consider submitting a proposal! Big thanks for Ofra Klein and her team at @essb-erasmusuni010.bsky.social for making this possible 👏

📖 This is such a thoughtful, thought-provoking and deeply challenging paper by Anna Jochymek, on the methodological risks and advantages of women’s positionality in researching the far right. Plus: nine scholarly commentaries that engage with this piece. 👏 doi.org/10.1111/amet...

The final paper of my PhD is now out in @democratization.bsky.social! I ask how and why regime type impacts far-right mobilization. My starting point was a paradox: the far right is global, yet most of what we know about it comes from research on a handful of countries in Western Europe 1/9

Wallonia. One of the few party systems left in Europe where there is no successful radical right party. In a post-industrial region where the radical right thrives in other countries. What's different in Wallonia? There is a full political and media cordon sanitaire around the radical right.

🏛️ What a timing to discuss the #mainstreaming and #normalisation of the #farright with so many colleagues and friends at the #ecprgc26 in Kraków this week. Happy for the exchange and for the opportunity to present some ongoing work with @leoniedejonge.bsky.social tomorrow at 11:15! 📝

Off to the @ecpr.bsky.social Conference in Kraków to present and discuss research on the far right, political violence, and democratic resilience. These topics feel, unfortunately, all the more timely in light of yesterday’s election in Germany and broader developments across Europe.

All those surprised by this should remember that, back in 2020, Politico already included Götz Kubitschek and Viktor Orbán among its "Dreamers" in its “Class of 2020“, an annual ranking of “the people shaping European politics and policy“.
