I have collected vinyl for decades. I tell people it is my pension, and the best sounding pension anyone could ever have (all true). 🥰 Now, I’m at the age where I begin to cash in that pension. Hence my little record store on Discogs: www.discogs.com/seller/leggo... #vinyl #reggae #music

Cool Rasta Man Cool by Steve Baswell, produced by Roy Francis on his Phase One label #reggaesky #musicsky #reggae #Discomix #music #vinyl #Jamaica

Sugar Minott on his own Black Roots label with a great roots lovers song, and a heavy drum and bass version. #reggaesky #musicsky #reggae #Discomix #music #vinyl #Jamaica

More from the Thompson Sound night. Dread are the Controller by Linval Thompson Great song, with a raucous roots rock reggae dub on the version #reggaesky #musicsky #reggae #Discomix #weekendsingles

My art exhibition, ‘Walls of Wonder’ is now on at the @nationaltrust.org.uk estate of Gunby Hall in #Lincolnshire. www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/nottin...

Linval Thompsons own ‘Thompson Sound’ label produced many gems - such as ‘Hold in Sufferers’, a rousing early digital number on 12” 45

Early morning niceness from Keith Poppin. ‘More of Keith Poppin’ on the ‘Black Heat’ label. More is never enough because you can never have too much of Poppin’s wonderful voice. #musicsky #reggaesky #roots #reggae #music #Jamaica #vinyl #earlyshift

This is excellent. What a line up: Culture and Don Carlos. Roots Radics players, Soljie and ET. #musicsky #reggae #music #vinyl

That’s a proper musical taste. Wide ranging and all-encompassing. People who insist on only listening to music from one narrow genre could learn from browsing this collection. #musicsky

Enjoying my new ‘career’ as Head of Primitive Technology at the Old Schoolhouse. This stone is merely a cladding in the two-foot thick mud walls. Over the years, voids have formed behind the cladding - often used by rodents to make a home. I’m filling the voids with mud. #building #work #Scotland

Probably one of the best 12 inch singles ever pressed.

Tear it Up. Probably not the best album to go to if you’re listening to Black Uhuru for the first time (that would be Love Crisis, or maybe Showcase) because it’s live and not the best sound. But my goodness, the drum and bass on this, by Sly and Robbie, is simply sublime. #musicsky #reggae #music

New record dividers going in to replace the makeshift temporary ones I’ve been using for 20 years now 🙂 Once this is done I’ll be shifting the records around to try and make the cataloguing system a bit less chaotic 😬 #musicsky #vinyl #music #records #reggae

I know you're not allowed to say this during the current debate, but the reason the left dominates academics, art, comedy, and music is that the right has stupid, discredited ideas, they're not funny, and dull resentment does not make for good art. No grand conspiracy required.

Still on a Sugar Minott tip. There’s no shortage of top tunes in this crate. #Reggae #Music #Reggaesky #Dub #Vinyl #Dancehall #Jamaica #weekendsingles #musicsky

Sugar Minott sings, Sly and Robbie play hard on the drum and bass, but Dillinger appears on the label and production credits only - no talkover! Great record though, one of my favourite Sugar Minott 12 inch 45s. #Reggae #Music #Reggaesky #Dub #Vinyl #Dancehall #Jamaica #weekendsingles #musicsky

I adore the 12 inch 45 ‘Disco’ vinyl format. It’s the perfect media for reggae. There are some cool sleeve designs too. #Reggae #Music #Reggaesky #Dub #Vinyl #Dancehall #Jamaica #weekendsingles #musicsky

War and Crime. Pressed 40 years ago in 1986. Time passes but nothing changes, huh? Sugar Minott, War and Crime 12inch 45. #Reggae #Music #Reggaesky #Dub #Vinyl #Dancehall #Jamaica #weekendsingles #musicsky

Renovating the 2ft thick mud walls of the Old Schoolhouse. 1 wall is faced with handmade bricks, 2 others are lime harled (rendered) & this - the NW wall - is stone-faced for extra resilience against the Scottish weather. #historicbuilding #history #heritage #renovation #primativetechnology #mud

It’s always fascinating to get a glimpse of a real artist’s sketchbook 😍

Whereas when I told my careers teacher I wanted to be a pro artist, writer and photographer, he laughed out loud - and told me I would need to get a proper job. I did all three, professionally, for almost 40 years - but only after trying a ‘proper’ job and absolutely hating every minute of it.

Beautiful depiction of these delightful little flying puffballs

Painted last year, I’m thinking of lightening the background of this Chaffinch painting - or changing it completely. What do you think?
