We're in the final 4 days of the Apex Magazine 2021 Kickstarter and we're $4,393 away from our initial funding goal. The time is now! Let's hit our goal and fund Apex for 2027! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ape...

I mean, sure, you could support Apex because they've published me a number of times in the past.... ....but Lesley makes an excellent point in this thread about just how cool the T-shirts are, so, yeah, you can support Apex just for the T-shirts and other merch instead.

Times are tight all around, but publishing short fiction is expensive. Even if you can only kick in $1 to help keep the magazines you love afloat, please kick in that $1. People who bring you great art deserve to be paid for their work, too.

If you are able, please support and/or boost! Apex is a cornerstone of the SFFH short fiction scene. They do tremendous work and they need our help now.

Apex is a fantastic magazine and deserves your support! The Kickstarter also has some great rewards (just upgraded my tier to the author graphics pack 👀👀👀)

This weekend is the first I've had zero plans in well over two months. To celebrate, I'm watching horror movies all weekend. Since I tend to watch older films, I think I'm going to concentrate on movies from the past 25 years. So, recommendations! What horror movies from 2001 on should I watch?

I've been watching all of the Godzilla movies in order - because of course I am - and I was explaining the plot of Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster to my kid while we were fixing lunch. If you've never watched any of the Godzilla movies, that movie sounds like an hallucinogenic fever dream.

As someone who grew up in a high-control religion, this story really speaks to me on a personal level. But even if you don't have that same experience, this is still highly worth the read.

Okay, ya'll. The Apex Magazine Kickstarter still needs another $8,637 to fund 2027 and we only have 10 days to go. I'm starting to get STRESSED! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ape...

I was trying to be so chill about this Kickstarter. My husband would ask where we were and I'd blithely say I didn't know because I hadn't looked. Chill has left the building. We have reached the constant refresh portion of the campaign.

I *really* wish Facebook didn't have the ability to voice call people. There are people I'm fine with being "friends" with, but I in no way want them to have the ability to call me.

A beautiful, necessary essay. "Dopplegangrene stories." An apt metaphor for the way AI writing damages the host, whether the host is a magazine or a school. As a teacher, I share this exhaustion.

Lesley Conner@lesleyconner.bsky.social

I wrote a very vulnerable essay for Apex Magazine issue 154 and then promptly forgot that it was posting last week. You can read my essay "Reality, Exhaustion, and AI" on the Apex website now: www.apexbookcompany.com/blogs/apex-m...

I'm watching Blood and Black Lace on Tubi and some of these closed captions are wild. If there's a quiet bit where no one is talking, random text pops up. Like "Thanks for watching" and my favorite "I don't know what is going on." Yeah, me either, weird ghost captions.

I have a pretty obvious vested interest in this - Apex has published my work seven times over the years, and I'm hoping that I can persuade Lesley to let me in the zine again - but that only happens if their Kickstarters fund. So!

The Apex Magazine 2027 Kickstarter has passed $10K!!! Huge thank you to the nearly 200 backers who have gotten us this far! Let's keep it going! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ape...
