In this episode, Anthony offers up one of the most incisive analogies about AI I've heard so far—really do give this a listen!

A bit late to post about, new episode w/ @rsfrankl.bsky.social and @levijohnwolf.bsky.social of the #GLaDpodcast. If nothing else, be enticed by the title; if something else, delight in Anthony Robinson’s views on maps, AI, and microwave ovens! gladpodcast.podbean.com/e/episode-29...

I gotta say I find a lot of AI discourse around higher ed very confusing. "if ChatGPT can write your essays is college even worth it?" did people think math teachers were assigning problem sets because *they* couldn't figure out the answers?

I've just had the most surreal experience: I googled a relatively niche question about an academic topic and got an AI response paraphrasing *my own* crossvalidated (the stats stack overflow) answer from years prior.

new paper out today with Serge, Clio and Zak in Networks and Spatial Economics. We develop a bipartite spatial weights matrix extending spatial econometric models to account for multi-contextual spillovers with a focus on neighborhood/school effects link.springer.com/article/10.1...

🔔New paper alert!🔔 *People make places urban* in @NatCities w/ @levijohnwolf.bsky.social #cities #urbanism #urbanization We address that deceptively simple question: What makes a place urban? (TL;DR - the answer is in the title!). A short thread on key arguments (1/10)

I’m also excited about the paper of course! People are fundamental to cities. We think that by making space endogenous, measures of population concentration might really help characterize what’s “urban”.

What do you think? How can you get visibility and still be nice on social media? We've got a few ideas, but we're keen to hear yours!
