Also I was reminded of how I had to call the Nintendo service hotline and wait 3 business days to play on my used WiiU that I bought because I was signed in to a defect one that I returned to sender and it is impossible to sign out of a WiiU remotely.

Some kids probably had to make whole new nintendo accounts to play WiiU because their old one broke and they couldn't sign out of that one. I can't imagine how painful it must be for long distance commuters to play on two systems. Forget to sign out, can't play the whole weekend. Incomprehensible.

Then I had to turn off the gamepad again, because I turned on the gamepad and console in the wrong order, then turn on the gamepad again, then press sync, then press it again, then enter some stupid shapes. and THEN it prompted me to sign in to nintendo network.

After declining I was finally able to go to the settings and then after two very long load screens, I was finally able to turn back the clock 1 hour, an act that takes 10 seconds on the original Wii. Fuck this piece of garbage. It deserved to fail.

I just wanted to turn back the time 1 hour. I had to bust out the gamepad, which I have not used for anything ever, because the system settings wouldn't let you use the TV screen and I got soft locked in the settings because you can't home menu out of it or use the wiimote to return to main menu.

You specifically have to use the gamepad to change the time. But you can't just turn it on, no. The gamepad wasn't synced because it ran out of battery and I used the wiimote for everything until then. But you can't just sync it on the settings screen so I had to reboot both devices.

I know Gundam isn't exactly great representation, it's full of stereotypes, but at the very least other characters have things going for them that make them actual characters. Like G Gundam has shit like the Tequila Gundam and the Lumberjack Gundam but the guys in them have actual story lines.

he's a raging misogynist, a bad chinese stereotype whose decisions are usually influenced by an extremely obtuse sense of justice that is never elaborated on and he's generally always the wrench in the gears but the story never acknowledges this in any form.

Even the pilots that show up for one episode have some cool shit going for them like Graham having some dramatic backstory with Argo but what is Wu Fei's character? He's chinese, he does kung fu, he hates women and he likes honor and his clan. Boo, get this shit outta here.

This movie is pretty alright because it benefits hugely from the established cast being finally somewhat relatable even though it took like 40 episodes for that to happen in the show. The antagonist is quite uninteresting and the first half is not that interesting, but I would say I liked it overall

I don't have many complaints, it's a pretty alright movie. One that's perfectly fine to skip if you plan on watching the series for it, because it's not worth slogging through 49 episodes of Wing for a just decent movie, but I think it's probably the best thing to come out of the show.

I think I realized this at the end when the people came together when I actually felt like it touched me a little. I really like that the movie actually for once in this fucking series acknowledges the people and shows them actually doing something they want.

I don't want to exaggerate this part because it's not significant enough to elevate it to true greatness, but it did show how good we could have had it in the series if the writing had actually cared about the people in its world.

The plot constantly undermines itself. You think some cool climax is gonna happen, nuh-uh, something changed and it didn't happen. Some cool thing does happen and nuh-uh, cut away from it, different thing happens now. It's actively a slog to watch.

Which is a shame because its themes and character constellations are quite fun, but you're never let up close to any of them, instead some narrator just summarizes the plot at you and the Gundams blow up faceless nobodies most of the time. Also Wu Fei is the worst character ever.

Unlike 0079, Wing constantly externalizes the characters and the conflict. We never see how it affects the people aside from few brief scenes, we don't know the main characters' back stories or motivations until some 20s episodes and most of the conflict is just random people fighting.

The show goes huge lengths to point out that people dying in war carries meaning yet it never lets you bond with any character who actually dies. It's always random ass soldiers with 20 seconds screen time who die.

I think especially the finale makes this commitment pay off in spades resulting in some actually really good final episodes when the ideas constantly hinted at are being fully realized, however, this does not make up for the fact that the writing sucks overall.

The number one biggest issue is the writing because it's just so bad. You can have that awesome climax from ideas that are constantly reinforced throughout the show without making actually watching it a gigantic pain in the ass. The original Gundam series already proved that.

This show fucking blows. For the most part. I actually think it has a few strong points going for it. Namely, I like some of the characters and I respect its tremendous commitment to its messaging. The themes are a bit esoteric and not really realistic, but I dig how far it goes to convey them.
