My parking pic sent to Voi on Friday night. This is one of the only remaining dockless bike parking zones in Hackney Wick now that building work on Wallis Road has taken a very well used location out of the picture.

I think a tweak to where this location is shown in the apps could help. All the bikes bunch up at the north end of the street, blocking a route between two dropped kerbs, meanwhile there was easily 10 meters of space behind where I'd parked my bike. Mainly we just need more parking zones though!

The value proposition of the deal Hackney have negotiated with Voi continues to seem ridiculous. Had an evening out, Hackney Wick to Bethnal Green and back, cost me £1.75 and I still have 9 minutes that I can use tomorrow if I feel like it. Not bad!

Okay so I might vote in a general election run under a PR system by the time I'm 45. Unless Reform win in a landslide and then decide that FPTP is Good Actually... which unfortunately doesn't seem that unrealistic a scenario.

Needed to pick up my bike after it had been fixed, so I've used a dockless bike for the first time ever (nearest dealer for the brand was is Tower Hamlets). It was a Voi, they're stupidly fast off the mark! Would be great to have an option to tweak the acceleration.

£1.75 pass for 30 minutes for Hackney residents is very welcome (and I still have 15 minutes left over). But you can't buy a pass using credit you already have in your account (I still have some from hiring a scooter in Münster last year).

Oh and unlike Lime, it seems that for the £1.75 fare isn't only for rides starting in the borough. Phone holder doesn't grip tightly enough—I think I need to figure out a way to lash a quad lock mount to the handlebars of hire bikes / scooters.

Okay so I have a big ride in Kent that I'm wanting to do tomorrow morning and a bloke riding across a pedestrian crossing over a red light just slammed into my front wheel and burst the inner tube! Less than ideal.

Got sorted fairly quickly by Herberts Cycles in Whitstable, who had Brompton-appropriate tubes in stock. Evidence: video of me cycling with visible sea in background!

Take this tiny sample and extrapolate over the city-wide picture, there must be hundreds of households who'd grudgingly made the same decision. Not nearly enough is being done to prevent private car ownership from being the path of least resistance.

Goo morning @cycleislington.uk! I'm wondering if this is something you've raised before: I'm getting a little annoyed at this part of my commute along C27. Seems like there's a rat run that's been left open via Popham Road / Greenman Street allowing drivers to avoid signalled junction to the north.

Adding to the issue is how faded the markings are where Popham Road meets Essex Road. You can have a lot of cyclists waiting at a red here, and then drivers turning left almost into their path because they swing out so far. New North Academy feels like a good candidate for a school street also?

Any Gazelle owners ever had this part snap off one of their mudguards? I rode over an aluminium can and it somehow sprang up and took revenge

All better now. I actually had the replacement part in hand less than 24 hours after the breakage—Balfes had it in stock in their warehouse. Yay for regional medium-size retail chains.

I've seen the trailer for that new Daniel Day Lewis film twice at the cinema this week, and I'm not sure I can take men speaking gruffly in Yorkshire accents seriously anymore. It just makes me think of this 80s pork advert now.

Range Rover driver plays chicken with me at the parallel crossing over Waterden Road. Finally he stops, fully over the zebra. Then winds his window down to shout "either go or don't", as if the issue was my lack of trust that they would not run me over in their two tonne vehicle.

I like the idea of a trying to induce leisure / tourism activity through cheap transport fares! But obviously the Deutschland-Ticket would be far less popular if you could only take buses (trams do not exist in most of London) using it.

NEW: we're supersizing the Hopper fare to put money back into Londoners' pockets this summer. Look out for our fun 🐸 buses.

Still, I feel like this is going to enable a lot of fun days out this summer for low income families. And the froggy design is cute.

Aspire's vote share actually *decreased* by about 5% since the last election. So of course it makes sense to reward them with NOC > Aspire!

Good evening Bluesky! Welcome to the live thread of the Hackney 2026 Mayoral Active Travel hustings. A full house here at the Pembury Community centre. We are joined by the 🟥🟩🟦 parties

Wouldn't surprise me if public realm works for developments (flats) to the north need to finish before this opens. Compared to before, will be able to avoid a detour via the busy White Post Lane and narrow canal paths—much better for cyclists.

Just need to deal with the nasty swing gate where the northern avenue out of the stations meets Wallis Road, and there will be a really nice largely traffic-free corridor going north-south through this area.

If the transport secretary is saying privately owned e-scooters will become a legal mode of transport "as soon as parliamentary time becomes available", then planners of new road schemes need to take this into account *today*. Modal share growth for microbility vehicles is inevitable.

bbc.co.uk'The genie's out of the bottle' in Birmingham and Wolverhampton as new e-scooter laws plannedChanges are planned by the government but meet a mixed response in the West Midlands.

That junction design that they've convinced themselves is just about passable for cycling, with shared space bits, or paint for protection? Now imagine it in a world where e-scooters are legal and (even more) commonplace.

As much as many cyclists won't want to share space with buses, e-scooter riders on their little wheels *really* won't find that appealing! e.g. does anyone genuinely think that the big new pavement build outs on Pembury Circus won't have people scooting across them from day one?
