Libraries are free speech repositories. If a politician can control what is offered, so can the next politician with opposing views. It's ridiculous. Let people read.

If libraries are "government speech," then the government has multiple personality disorder. 🫤 Should the library change with every new party voted in? It doesn't, and it never has, because it isn't government speech!

kelly jensen@heykellyjensen.bsky.social

- The government speech doctrine is a poor fit for libraries, which are designed to provide access to a wide range of viewpoints.

The Trump administration Wednesday made an emergency request to the U.S. Supreme Court to allow the revocation of legal status for more than 350,000 Haitians, opening them up to deportations ohiocapitaljournal.com/2026/03/12/r...

It took some time for public libraries to desegregate, still longer to represent all ages and all segments of society in its books. We aren't going back.

Super grateful to Jim Obergefell for still speaking out about this issue. Who hates book bans more than librarians? We, the people!

. Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes... Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared... ~~~~ Anne Frank ~~~~ .

Hey, Ohio, we know you love your libraries, but some of your state legislators don't. They are trying to push something that is unconstitutional, and will cost Ohioans a lot in legal fees. Tell your legislators NO OVERRIDE ON THE LIBRARY BUDGET BILL. NO HIDING BOOKS!

Even more bad library bills being proposed in state legislatures. Don't just read and understand what's at stake here–take action to help stop their progress. Attempts to suppress LGBTQ+ books in libraries? They're not happening at the local level, folks. buttondown.com/wellsourced/...

The FBI’s raid today on the home of @washingtonpost.com reporter @hannahnatanson.bsky.social is an alarming escalation in the Trump administration’s war on the press. Watch @trevortimm.bsky.social explain how the DOJ is not only attacking the First Amendment but also ignoring federal law.

Congratulations to Amanda Jones, whose defamation lawsuit is settled on her terms: $1 (admits liability) and a public apology. Poor thing, watch how many takes it took him to spit it out! Brava, Amanda, who has gone on to acclaim, while this guy is, and rightly so, in the pits.

You’ll notice that republicans had no problem fleeing DC to avoid voting on the Epstein files to protect the convicted felon in the White House but are now threatening Texas Democrats for fleeing the state to stall them from corruptly gerrymandering the state. Evil scumbags.

How does the legislature renege on its agreement (the Fair School Funding Plan), which was instituted because its underfunding violated the Ohio constitution??

Kent Smith@kentsmith.bsky.social

The budget passed by the Ohio Senate last week (with bipartisan opposition), was the worst collection of public education policies I have ever seen. It makes me wonder if Statehouse Republicans are simply trying to put Ohio's public schools out of business. We discuss it in this week's ICYMI.

Texas and Florida have experienced most of the book bans in the country. Texans pushed back where it counts: the ballot box. MAGA legislators, take note.

Frank Strong@frankstrong.bsky.social

Okay, I'll say it: Tonight has been an absolute DRUBBING for Texas book banners. Texas voters stood up and said clearly that they're sick of trustees demonizing teachers. They rejected the absurd policing of libraries & books that has plagued our state for years.
