Hi #portfolioday ! I'm Liiga and I do freelance illustration. My focus is on dreamlike imagery and spells, though I'm no stranger to characters and the occasional scenery. I've done work for Magic: The Gathering, Android:Netrunner, Bella Sara etc. 🎨 liiga.artstation.com ✉️ smilshkalne@hotmail.com

Today: Odin Does Odin Things (temp title, don't know the card name yet) for MTG: Darkhold Destiny AD: Merideth Mulroney This was such a cool assignment! Without going into story spoilers, this is about Odin having Plot Relevant Visions. Can you piece together the narrative?

I decided to delete the thread about Jace and Breach. I'm still full of thoughts and feelings regarding interpretation of design, but I see that there are many differing opinions on the matter, so it's best to let it be. I do apologize for spreading my poor mood.

It's artist proof o'clock again! Painted this lady on the back of my Archdruid's Charm. Explored a whole new type of shinies while at it - tiny opals! They're in her sleeve, tiara and the amulet. You can see them best in the third image.

Another proof sketch - this time Zelda praying. Markers again - figured I'd get some of the marker orders done since I've got them out of the shelf Way Over There (across the room).

Oh dear I've been drawing all these proof sketches and then forgetting to post them! Need to fix that. Today: Aurelia, the Warleader in markers on the back of my "Fiery" from Jumpstart. Held my breath while drawing her face - luckily, no hand wobbles!

Showing off the shinies~ The particles in Golden's interference paints are very fine, but at this scale it's still difficult to paint precise lines with them. So I'm very happy with how the markings on her face turned out!

Today - a weather appropriate artist proof painting. This one's on the back of my Screaming Nemesis and the request was to make it a cat! Since my screamy girl has neither pants nor a face, I felt a sphynx cat would bear the best resemblance.

Tokens!! I caved in to peer pressure and painted six tokens featuring my local gremlin (possibly also a cat) Bucha. Today the printed ones came in and they turned out great! They're coming with me to Magic Con Amsterdam, july 17-19. Oh and they're on thematically appropriate artist proofs.

FOOTSTEPS (2026) Acrylic - 12” x 24” Measured in geological terms, the human epoch occupies a footnote in the deep history of time. Like the dinosaurs, will our moment here leave lasting impressions in the soil? Or will our expression of life fall silent like the flutter of butterfly wings? 1/3

Another artist proof painted! Acrylics, a touch of interference paints, and a hint of glow in the dark accents which I can't stop playing with, so there's a video below ⬇️

Today's artist proof painting - the little Bloomburrow bunny from my Swords to Plowshares mourning a fallen friend. Acrylics + fineliner (ok several actually 'cause I wanted colorful lines)

Culling Ritual for Magic: The Gathering - Secrets of Strixhaven: Mystical Archive. AD: Tom Jenkot, @jameelawahlgren.bsky.social My favourite one from this set, it was so fun figuring out this kinda fungal treefolk design, and ofc - lil critters going poof! #mtg #mtgstrixhaven #illustration

Also my first foray into reveal videos. It took about 10 attempts and a big scratch on my foot because while my cat Bucha is happy with (trying to eat) the proof and the little clipboard separately, he's horrified the moment I put one onto the other. He's built different.

Today's artist proof sketch - also Chandra! As it happens, I had two requests for her on my list this time, both done in the paint sketch style (which is to say acrylics + lineart) and both on my proof of Powerbalance. So I foiled this one's eyelashes, too. 😁
