On Tuesday at 10am PT (around the time of peak daily high tide in parts of southern CA), I'll have a livestream to discuss the possibly record high ocean levels this week along SoCal coast, plus potential for an unusually warm storm on/around Halloween.

History is on the ballot this November. Rachel Rose Isaacson is running to become Boulder's first Gen Z councilmember, and Jill Adler Grano made history as Boulder's first openly LGBTQ councilmember. Vote by Tuesday, Nov 3rd: https://boulderprogressives.org/voter-guide

Don’t be like Tommy. Know your history. @abdulelsayed.bsky.social does. He also knows the constitution. So glad I wrote get-out-the-vote postcards for his campaign!
This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.
This is what I have been saying for years and many folks argued with me otherwise. The Supreme Court is partisan to the party that gave them their seat. There needs to be more control & checks & balances for that that branch of the government (IMO).
Elie Mystal said it best: "One of the biggest strengths of our system—and one of its biggest weaknesses, its biggest fault lines—is the same thing: Give me five Supreme Court justices, and I can make the Constitution say whatever I want. 1/4

In case you missed it live earlier, my "big October El Niño update" was recorded and is now available. This was a bit of a marathon session, but I covered a lot of ground and answered quite a few excellent viewer questions submitted via live chat! Check it out.

I don’t think I’ve seen 100% chance of rain for Boulder in months. 🤞this doesn’t miss us. Again #Boulder #COWx
This Week in Colorado Weather: Pattern Change Brings Rain, Frost & Mountain Snow 📉❄️☔️ We break down the timing of the cooldown, what the latest ensemble guidance says about rainfall totals, and why Friday and Saturday mornings will bear watching for frost: bouldercast.com/this-week-in... #COWx

bleah. Not what I wanted to see but it's what we are going to get. #Boulder #cowx
Global model ensembles are in strong agreement that a prolonged &anomalous nearly West-wide autumn heatwave will develop this week & persist for 10+ days. While some daytime records may be set, this event will be more notable for its persistence & breadth. [Thread]
*sigh* we can't get any luck these days. I think #Boulder used up all its heavy rain karma in 2013. And @weatherwest.bsky.social says it's going to be warm & dry for a while (like weeks). Boo.
New rainfall projections are in for the Boulder-Denver area. Beneficial rain is nearly off the table now. Best chance to see rain is south of I-70 Wednesday afternoon and evening. Further north and west you are, the greater the chance you may be skipped entirely. #COWX
I'm writing postcards for Talarico. Maybe I should mention some of these descriptions of Paxton, the guy he's running against 😏
John Oliver: “The Times had a panel this week of Trump voters who were undecided in this race, and when they were asked to describe Paxton, their answers were: Crook, criminal crook, crooked, bad, amoral, disgusting, morally corrupt, disgusting, corrupt, and womanizer crook.”

I’m writing postcards to get out the vote. It’s easy to sign up at https://www.activateamerica.vote/postcards. Not sure if this makes any difference, but at least I feel like I’m doing something (in addition to voting) @activateamerica.bsky.social
I remember the Great Flood of 2013 - glad this isn't going to turn into that. But a bit more than drizzle would be nice (but not complaining! Any moisture is good moisture).
Over the last 75+ years, Boulder and Denver have only seen precipitable water values climb above 1.30" in September during the great 2013 Flood (multiple days in a row!). However, if forecasts verify, later today should join that rare club 🌊💦 #COWX #Boulder #Denver #Monsoon

Haven't watched yet, but as it has a new season let's bring over to Bluesky my cast list for Lord of the Rings using the cast of S1-3 of Ted Lasso. Let's start with an easy one: Aragorn. No fucking second breakfasts for any fucking hobbits or any other fucking muppets with this Aragorn.

This and the comments in the thread ...
If you want members of this regime to be held legally accountable, you have to add four seats to the Supreme Court in 2029. Otherwise, they'll protect their fellow oligarchs like they did in 2023. 1. Win the senate 2. Block nominees 3. Elect a dem POTUS 4. Congress adds 4 seats 5. Have nice things

New post out on Weather West on the upcoming intense, double-peaked heatwave event in the Pacific Southwest. What are the (indirect) links to Hurricane Genevieve? (Substantial.) And also: will California see an uptick in wildfire activity? (Probably yes.)

OMFG, what an idiot 🙄 hey @jennlongs.bsky.social could you all keep that smoke within your borders SMH
Trump is threatening Canada with additional tariffs because wildfire smoke drifted into the United States. When America burns, Canada sends firefighters. When Canada burns, Trump sends tariffs.
