#RedSox Breslow says Caleb Durbin "deserves a ton of credit for what he played through." Says no surgery is planned for Durbin, either. Adds, "We have a bunch of guys that are committed to this team and to each other and want to get back on the field and compete with each other."

After follow-up appointments with doctors and further medical imaging, #RedSox Breslow says that while "we're still collecting information," Roman Anthony does not appear to need "any type of surgical intervention. Rest is likely the best path to recovery."

#RedSox Breslow say the view that traditional scouting is no longer emphasized by the club is wrong: "I think it's important that I have the chance to say that the value of scouts, the role that they fill here, is not diminished and it's not going away."

#RedSox Manager Tracy on Sonny Gray's disappointment after the ALWC Game 2 loss: "Do I think he was wanting to stay out there? Quite obviously." Says his relationship with Gray is good. "I was able to talk to him. It's in a fine place while also understanding his feelings on it."

#RedSox Breslow says he and Manager Chad Tracy had a 2+ hour private conversation with Willson Contreras yesterday. Despite Contreras' post-series seemingly negative comments about club's use of data, Willson "spoke very, very highly of his time here, how much he's looking forward to 2027."

#RedSox Breslow: "I think I'd also maybe push back a bit on this: this was kind of 35-ish games of excellence and 127 games of mediocrity when you think about or look at the overall totality of the record from July 1 on. It was 3 months of playing, I think, at a 104-win pace."

#RedSox Baseball Boss Breslow: "We didn't capitalize on our summer success, I think, is this feeling that's echoing in my head. Ultimately we fell short of the goals that we set out to accomplish." Says, "I wouldn't want that to overshadow some of the incredible accomplishments of the players."

It can be hard to capture #RedSox Baseball Boss Craig Breslow's sentiments in a few social media-ready characters. Asked how hard it is to evaluate a season with 37 spectacular games and playing at about .500 the rest of the way, Breslow responds with a 357-word response.

#RedSox CEO Kennedy: "We commit to you that we will use that disappointment and frustration as motivation and we will improve going forward." Says, "Thank you to the best fans in baseball for supporting us all season. You guys were incredible. It was an amazing atmosphere."

#RedSox CEO Kennedy: "To our fans, you should now that while we're proud of some of the things that happened and proud that we got to the postseason, we are definitely not satisfied. Our goal was to play deep into October…and we obviously fell short of that goal."

#RedSox CEO Sam Kennedy at today's end of season press conference: "While an incredibly disappointing end and finish, I think this year said a lot about the people inside of the front office, so, I am very grateful for all your hard work and way you supported each other."

Good day, fans. I just posted a note over on the main RSNStats account about something new. bsky.app/profile/rsns...

Hey, fans. Hope you’re recovering from a rough week of #RedSox baseball. We all felt it. Want to tell you about something you may (or may not) care about: I’ve just migrated another RSNStats channel over to Bluesky called RSNStatsPLUS. You can find it at @plus.rsnstats.com.

#RedSox scored 71 runs in September, the 2nd-fewest in any month of 20+ games over the past 100 BOS seasons. Only September 1966 was lower (70). The last AL team to score fewer than 71 runs in a month of 24+ games was the 2018 #Royals, with 58 in June.

#RedSox Garrett Crochet: "You know these guys grinded it all year long. I think that we're maybe a little undeserving of the fate that we got but sometimes that's the game. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's shit, and sometimes you do all the right things and it doesn't go your way."

#Yankees Manager Aaron Boone on #RedSox: "That was a scary team for us, especially as well as they pitch. For us to have the offensive outbreaks that we had here these last two nights, credit those guys. That was very satisfying to play that well in these two games."

The next #RedSox baseball game is scheduled for March 25, 2027. That's 176 days away, if all goes well with the player/owner negotiations. So, one last time for 2026… That's all for now, fans. Thanks for following tonight's #RedSox action with RSNStats. Stay well and enjoy the off-season!

Former #RedSox manager Terry Francona said once that the baseball season "doesn't wind down, it just comes to a crashing halt." So true. Baseball becomes the rhythm of our summer. Tomorrow will feel different.

Fans, thanks for being part of our RSNStats community all season long. I've enjoyed our conversations as we've made our way through this roller coaster season. By my count, @RSNStats was with you for 118 #RedSox games this year, or about 72% of the 164 official games played.

Sonny Gray says he’s undecided about his future, but emphasizes that he still has a lot of baseball left in him if that’s the path he chooses. Also made it clear he wasn’t happy with being taken out as early as he was.

#RedSox Manager Tracy on using Garrett Crochet tonight: "I think the clean inning was about as good as we could make it. He was throwing hard so we were finding a lane to put the previous inning down and then give him a clean inning to operate with…obviously it just didn't go our way."

#RedSox Manager Tracy on leaving starters in the game longer: "If we were able to put up some runs and maybe have some more breathing room, we might be able to do that, but [we were] trying to be aggressive and create tough match-ups, it just didn't work out."

#RedSox Manager Tracy: "Regardless of all the special things that happened in the summer, and there were quite a few, the goal is to win the World Series and that ended for us tonight. It's frustrating." Says, "It's going to take some time to get over that."

#RedSox Manager Chad Tracy said he addressed the team briefly after tonight's loss but declines to get into specifics. "Obviously, everybody's disappointed so I'll keep it between us, but I love the group of players and I'll leave it at that."

In this American League Wild Card Series #RedSox offense went 7-for-60 (.117) with 4 extra-base hits, 3 walks, and 19 strikeouts. BOS pitching allowed 18 earned runs over the 2-game series with 4 home runs, 8 walks, and 14 strikeouts.

Fastest pitch thrown today by any pitcher of the game was a 99.8 MPH 4-seam fastball from #RedSox Aroldis Chapman to #Yankees Spencer Jones for a swinging strike.

Batted ball that traveled the farthest distance in this game was a home run for #Yankees Luis García Jr. vs #RedSox. Estimated distance was 387 feet.

#Yankees pitchers threw 142 pitches in this one, averaging 15.78 per inning. #RedSox pitchers threw 147 pitches tonight, averaging 18.38 per inning.

Lopsided, Part II: #RedSox had 4 hits in 31 at-bats in this game and batted .117 on the postseason, with a .159 on-base percentage and .250 slugging percentage. #Yankees had 14 hits in 36 at-bats tonight and are batting .382 this postseason, with a .436 OBP and .574 SLG.

Not sure this could be more lopsided: With 9 earned runs allowed in this game, #RedSox pitchers recorded a postseason ERA of 10.13 and 2.13 WHIP. #Yankees postseason ERA now stands at 1.00 including the 2 ER today, with a 0.56 WHIP.

Time of the game: 2 hours, 59 minutes before a crowd of 49,004 fans (sell out% venue capacity) who saw #Yankees beat #RedSox, 9-2 in game 2 of this 3-game series.

#RedSox were 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position in this one, left 4 on. #Yankees were 6-for-9 with RISP, left 7 runners on base. #MLB

#Yankees Max Fried earns the win in this one. Is now 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in the postseason. #RedSox Sonny Gray takes the loss. Is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA this postseason.

#RedSox swept away in American League Wild Card Series. An up-and-down Sox season ends quickly, quietly, before October, and yet again without a postseason game played at Fenway Park.

After 8 innings, #RedSox 2, #Yankees 9 Last half inning of the season for BOS: • Willson Contreras (single, walk, home run) • Wilyer Abreu (flyout, strikeout, flyout) • Ceddanne Rafaela (groundout, flyout, pop out)

I can (and will, later) show you front office quote after quote, year after year, about the need for more #RedSox offense. So much talk, so little execution.

#RedSox Aroldis Chapman into the game now vs #Yankees. He has pitched in the postseason for 5 different teams: #Reds (2010 and 2012), #Cubs (2016), #Yankees (2017-21), #Rangers (2023) and BOS (2025-26).

Due next for #Yankees: • Cody Bellinger (groundout, groundout, single, home run) • Luis García Jr. (lineout, home run, single, single) • Spencer Jones (strikeout, single, strikeout, strikeout)

There's a free RSNStats Newsletter, too, that I want to tell you about. No ads and I won't clog your mailbox with nonsense or sell your email address. You can cancel at at any time. Haven't been as active as I should, but I'll try to do better this off-season. Sign up at RSNStats.com/newsletter.

After 7 innings, #RedSox 2, #Yankees 9 Due next for BOS: • Nate Eaton (double, strikeout) • Jahmai Jones (strikeout, strikeout, flyout) • Adley Rutschman (strikeout, groundout, flyout)

Fans, I suspect I'm losing many of you to bedtime or, just something else more fun to watch. Do want to say thanks for following @RNStats all season long. It's been a wild ride. Plenty more notes as we wrap up the season the rest of this week. Keep following for news throughout the off-season.

#RedSox Alec Gamboa made his postseason debut last night. Entered in the 7th inning and allowed each of the 4 batters he faced to reach base with 3 hits and a walk, recorded no outs.

#RedSox will sent Alec Gamboa out now to face #Yankees. Sort of a shame they can't run Erik Miller back out there. Opponents this season vs Gamboa were 15-for-73 (.205) with 0 HR and .560 OPS from the right, 12-for-44 (.273) with 1 HR and .796 OPS from the left.

⭐️ This is the 4th time in #RedSox postseason history that they've allowed 8+ runs in back-to-back games. First time since October 19-20, 2021 in ALCS Games 4 and 5 vs #Astros. Also happened in 2 games of 2017 postseason and in 3 straight games of the 2008 postseason.

Due next for #Yankees: • George Lombard Jr. (strikeout, strikeout, single) • Jazz Chisholm Jr. (single, grounded into dp, single) • Trent Grisham (flyout, single, single)
