Ossoff has already said he's not running in 2028, and after the defeats of two women with far more qualifications than AOC it is madness to suggest she can do what a Senator and the sitting VP couldn't.

Micah@rincewind.run

the reason my likely presidential candidate tier list has two people at the top - Ossoff and AOC - is that they are by far the most effective messengers of I Am Fucking Furious And There Must Be Consequences, which is the most deeply held conviction of the Dem base

I just wasted a couple minutes watching the teaser for the new Harry Potter series. It's a near shot-by-shot remake, only longer and with a different cast - the costumes and sets are all but identical, and the script seems very generic. Not impressed.

I would bet money it's riddled with listening devices and spyware, too.

"Several key security and safety features on the Boeing planes that have been used for decades as Air Force One are not visible on the upgraded jet, including a lower-level exit for high-risk situations, additional backup power capacity and AN ADVANCED ANTIMISSILE SYSTEM" (emphasis mine)

They're going after women's colleges, too.

I tried. I really tried. For over a decade I patiently explained how actually the science shows trans women likely don't have an unfair advantage. i was civil about it. no one believed me. it was all "penis = strong" slop. transphobia-slop. now they're coming for all women's education protections.

He can pull out and be replaced prior to July 13th. After that the Democratic Party is stuck with Oyster Boy. Collins must be laughing herself into a stupor.

Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social

Platner could pull out and Maine Dems can replace him. But that won't do much; the Platner fanboys will then carp about the Establishment and yadda yadda, and not vote, and Collins wins anyway. The mistake was getting emotionally carried away with Platner in the first place.

For the record: "Anti-Zionist" in a profile is an automatic block. I do not support Netanyahu's actions in any way, but I don't support antisemitism either, and "anti-Zionist" is a huge dog whistle.

I live about twenty minutes away from the Eastern States Exposition, and I guarantee that NONE of the temporary buildings look this cheap. Not one.

I read the article articles and watched the videos, but genuinely nothing prepared me for this. This is unbelievable. My perspective comes from years of working live events across the country. I’ve worked county fairs that were 1,000x better than the Great American State Fair. It’s really bad.

Replying to @nikostratis.com

it's a last minute construction job in peak build season. That's a decent sized crew, all working OT, that they know will be heavily televised which means strict adherence to safety standards. You do this shit for dust control and benign safety standards. It truly could not be more basic.

I've been waiting for Trump to do this since hates women so much, but I honestly thought his first choice would be Wellesley since it's Hillary Clinton's alma mater. Terrified for Smith.

And...I just got a nastygram from a Canadian professor of religion who has a "Free Palestine" thing on her profile because I dared to point out that Jeff Sharlet's recent work on hard right religion in the military was preceded by nearly 50 years by other works. 1/2

I've been spyhopping the Religious Right since I was in high school in the 70's and someone tried to recruit me for Young Life. Sharlet's work is important, yes, but it is not new or unique, and recently it's been pretty over the top.* Why pointing this out set her off, I'm not sure. 2/2.5

*See: a post where he claimed that a swastika in the brickwork of a random 1920s house in the Midwest was evidence of antisemitism even though Hitler was in jail around then and the builders almost certainly didn't even know he existed....

Someone on Facebook claimed that her father the English teacher gave her a copy of Shakespeare's plays when she was SEVEN and said "here is a good book, you should read it." The mere idea that kid just past Dick & Jane should read plays in what is basically another language is risible. Good Lord.

And this is what he would use to demolish the entire building and throw up an ugly hotel.

Well that will open up the Strait of Hormuz. "The White House’s main entrance — framed by graceful Ionic columns — has been a signature image of the seat of US power "A Trump-appointee is proposing to replace them with a more ornate style favored by Trump... www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

I just watched the footage of the murder of Renee Nicole Good. I haven't felt this utterly sick since seeing the video of Ahmaud Arbery being blown away by the good ol' boys who'd stalked and hunted him down like a dog.

Big difference between Dukakis going to the local fair to try to woo voters after he got the nomination and Reagan starting his whole damn campaign there. Double standards are thing, Skippy.

And then there was the time that Duane Ingalls Glasscock, the alter ego of Boston DJ Charles Laquidara, locked himself in the control and played Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk" on continuous loop for several hours.....

A week after world leaders feted an obese drug addict for ‘Peace in the Middle East’ he casually speaks of displacing Palestinians and building condos in Gaza on a Fox News witch’s morning show. Y’all got played hard MSM.

Several hundred at the No Kings rally in Easthampton, a couple thousand at one in Northampton. Only dissenter I saw was an angry bald white guy with a beard who was waving a TRUMP 2028 sign, and boy did he get mad when I rolled down the window and said 'HE'S TERM-LIMITED." Cult member much?
