In my latest for Reactor, I explore the history of nonbinary pronouns in science fiction, and why all my books have nonbinary characters.

Please remember that for every VE Schwab and Stephen King, there are a lot of banned Black, queer, and POC writers you've never heard of, to whom it is maybe not a badge of honor but a denial of their voice. Being banned is not a marketing opportunity, unless one is already rich.

It's Banned Books Week. Please read widely and bravely.

Wake up, let dogs out, cuddle with 5yo, squint at email notifications and then slowly realize...oh snap, a short story acceptance?! So coffee with a little celebration dance this morning.

Very grateful to see such a kind review and a recommendation for this bleak/weird/ugly story: “Lightspeed’s June issue kicks off in grand style with ‘Ghost in the Tank’ … It’s a vividly told story about a world, and a relationship where every good moment feels stolen, broken, and, eventually, lost.”

Heyyyy, I’m looking for places to send my 10,400 word horror novelette and I’m stumped. Any recommendations for magazines/publishers interested in a story that’s Evil Dead meets coming-of-female-(r)age at the drive-in theater? 🧟‍♀️🎭🩸

What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?

Well, I joined Threads. I'm curious, but I also feel like I'm in Blair Witch with the camera in my face and I'm whispering "I'm so scared." We'll see if this lasts or if I nope out.

George Saunders’ Lincoln in the Bardo is a book with a unique prose style that asks a lot of the reader, but it also teaches you how to read it within about 25 pages. I have absolutely no respect for people who won’t even fucking try.
