I have opined on this before. It is wonderful to see an institution like this recognize what is at stake.

If the German gov insisted the Holocaust never happened & it provided support & cover to countries engaged in active ethnic cleansings against Jews, would Canada—or any civilized country—treat it like this? As a Canadian citizen & an Armenian, I would like an explanation, @mark-carney.bsky.social.

Joan Naviyuk Kane's "Dark Traffic" is a masterclass in the artistic manipulation of English phonology. This would be a feat from anyone, but I am esp. impressed when someone who has as much cause to resent this language as I do somehow still finds a way to love it enough to make it sound like this.

So the EU Enlargement Commissioner is cancelling a trip to Serbia because its welcome of Mladić's remains is "incompatible with the values on which the EU path is built" (fair!), but Kyiv keeps shipping Nazi collaborators home to bury with state honours while Brussels keeps talking "fast tracks". 🤷
