Hi new followers who found me from @ffconf.org 's starter pack! 🥹 I WISH I was going this year, but hopefully I'll be able to make the trip next time. In the meantime, have a fantastic conf. I think it's my favourite.

Yeah, I don't find this complicated at all. As someone who was an HP fan in childhood, it's incredibly easy to not spend any money on this franchise. I still have books and dvds from back then... but will I ever spend money on it again knowing JKs horrific motives? Fuck no.

JK Rowling has pledged to use the money she earns from Harry Potter to persecute trans people. If you spend money on Harry Potter, that’s what you’re supporting. This isn’t theoretical, it’s totally overt, and there’s no rationalizing it away.

It took me almost 2 hours to fix a bug in Figma that was a tucked away single checkbox. If anybody is using a variable font, you're going to want to uncheck this pain in the ass setting for auto optical sizing. Some people love this, it's not fun when working on a shared file with variables.

My last post was 3 months ago, and that's a great indicator of how I've been feeling about work lately. However, I've just started at a new job that's given me a real new joy for what I do ❤️ Hoping to bring some level of positivity here, but also heavily relating to a big need to switch off too.

Is there anybody in my network who is a brand designer looking for a small job for a good friend of mine? It's for her new company she's setting up for contracting.

I really really don't want to, but I don't think I have the mental energy at the moment to travel to London this weekend for @londonwebstandards.org State of the Browser. I'm regretful, because I really want to see all the talks and spend time with some good people, but for my own health it's best.

I'm having a really rough time right now, and I know seeing people would help, but I also know the travel and hotel stays and all of the elements combined would probably be worse for my health in the long run. I'm burnt out rn and I need to rest 😮‍💨

I do also have train tickets from Long Eaton (could also probably travel from Derby/Notts using these), and a hotel stay in the speaker Travelodge (although I don't think you can technically transfer this) for the night before and after. Please if you know anyone who would want that too...

I don't know if there's a way I can gift or transfer my ticket to someone who may need or want it? I don't want an empty seat there, so if that's possible, please let me know and I'd be happy to transfer my ticket to the event.

Designer pals, I'd like to update my website with some nice portfolio work. Any advice on what I should put on there? I'd like to focus on web design projects, including UX and UI.

I mean in terms of visuals and written content to accompany. I don't want essays of content, but would like to have it detailed enough.

I actually would love to deliver this as a full workshop one day, but I fear I might never get the time to make that a reality. Also unsure if that's even a thing developers would want, or employers would pay for so...

"I went on Twitter and I saw all these terrible posts" Oh fuck man really? Did you also go to the dump and find a bunch of rotting food? Why are you making it my problem now.

Imagine if, say, a single rock song, or a comic book, or a role playing game, or a video game, or horror movie, a chocolate bar, a toy, or, say, a person like a librarian or teacher, had an actual direct causal body count like this.... Imagine the furore, the witch hunt in the press, the outrage...

For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines

I finally did it. Conkers Bad Fur Day has always been my favourite game, yet when I first bought it at 11 years old (sorry Mum) I could never complete it all by myself. My friend and I between us managed most levels, but then the end glitched and we never truly finished it. Today is a good day 🧡

Shoutout to the multiplayer function on this game that we both played to death for many years. We're gonna do it again tomorrow 😅 And yes, this is the same cartridge I've had for 24 years. Love the Analogue 3D for the playability of that.

I had to do it... I didn't even know the Analogue 3D existed until a week or so ago, I even scoffed at why you wouldn't just buy an N64. Then I had to have one. I always wanted a transparent Ice Blue N64, so this is the next best thing. Merry Christmas to me from me.

All I need to know from my Spotify Wrapped is that I am obsessed with Modestep and Hayley William's latest albums, and two very specific BIGBANG songs because of T.O.P. being in Squid Game.
