I worked for the social security administration for 24 years, ending in 1999. I realized fairly early on the cap on taxable earning made little sense. The fact that it hasn’t been lifted in the intervening years is a testament to the corruption between the very rich and our government.

Imho opinion. Lately too much "look what happened to the non-Palestinian people in Palestine" & not enough "Palestinians are being killed" Israel has restarted the starvation & been killing civilians in Gaza every single day.Daily bombings in Lebanon. This isn't normal, don't let it become the norm

If I were a Democrat in Congress I would say fifa paying Trump $4 million for an empty office “raises serious questions” but because I’m a normal American person I can just say FIFA is bribing the president of the United States

Democratic leaders, call a press conference and stand firmly behind Ilhan Omar and your Muslim elected officials and candidates. Enough of this right-wing fearmongering and Islamophobia.

I think the evidence is pretty clear: Eric Schmitt is clearly the victim of a witch hunt. Obviously, women’s college basketball is a grand hoax. I hope Kash gets on this right away.

One thing to keep in mind if Trump steps down and gets a pardon from Vance: pardons do not extend into the future, and the chances that Trump would stop breaking the law are next to nil. The guy can’t stop himself from overreaching. The only way he stays out of prison is by dying.

You know who thought of this before, Fox News? Congress! In 1965. When they made offering and taking money for voting ILLEGAL. 52 U.S.C. §10307(c).

“This shows just how creative and rule-breaking and out of the box President Trump is,” she said. “I’m surprised no one has thought of this before.”

The current SCOTUS is all too happy to boost any Trump appeal to bypass the regular appeal process. Anyone remember how they ignored Jack Smith’s request to deal immediately with presidential immunity, making prosecution impossible? I’ll say it. The conservative majority are pieces of shit.

“Death! You got the wrong 80 year old!” “Oh, OK God. Who did you want?” “The President.” “Who’s that? I don’t follow politics.” “He’s in real estate too” “Come on, give me a chance, something I would have heard of.” “Errr… He was in Home Alone 2.” “Got it. Say no more.” “NOT THAT ONE YOU FOOL!”

The next Dem running for President should use the slogan, "Donald spent billions on his war with Iran; now we need the billionaires to pay for it."

This is how we win.

NEW: Just got a lovely email from the Alex Vindman campaign asking us to UNITE behind Angie Nixon and to donate in support of her campaign. Thank you, @avindman.bsky.social! You can contribute here: angienixon.com

A song I’ve been singing since I worked for the Social Security Administration for 24 years last century. That it has not come to fruition lays bare the corruption and control the very wealthy have over our government.

If all income in excess of $400,000 were subject to the Social Security payroll tax, Social Security’s solvency would be guaranteed forever. We could also expand Social Security benefits. There’s no reason even to consider reducing Social Security benefits or raising the age of eligibility.

Trump vetting his anger at Hegseth for the dwindling munition supplies is exactly like a parent who let their six-year-old babysit their younger siblings and then getting angry at the child when they come home to find their house was burned down.

Abdul El-Sayed was outspent 9-to-1 by AIPAC and corporate Super PACs in the most expensive Senate Democratic primary of all time. Last night, he proved that organized people can beat organized money.

German courts have decided it is not against the law to call Israel a Nazi state. I want you to take a minute and consider to what degree you need to get German courts to agree to that, in a country where the Nazi salute gets you arrested. Israel is a Nazi state. It is committing genocide.

I’ve backed off on my re-posting of Robert Reich because I had been doing it with greater frequency than my own posts. But this one needs to be widespread.

Beyond its famous preamble, the Declaration of Independence listed out a set of grievances against King George III of England. Some of them sound quite familiar…

GET A GRIP Ireland is building a battery that contains no lithium. No cobalt. No rare-earth metals. Instead, it stores energy using carbon dioxide. The project is designed to hold 200 megawatt-hours of electricity, making it one of Europe’s largest long-duration energy storage systems.

Let’s just say it: Robert Reich is one of the best plain-spoken advocates for the working and lower classes today, and he backs it up whenever challenged. What a gift to us.

Medicare for All - "That's socialism!" Social Security - "That's socialism!" Debt free education - "That's socialism!" Universal childcare - "That's socialism!" $1 trillion in tax cuts for the richest 1%... "That's just how it is."

Just a thought: If someone is being passive aggressive with you, rather than just criticize them for it, it might be helpful to look at what your own behavior was that caused them to do it in the first place.

A note about inflation “coming down.” It very rarely does. In my 70+ years I’ve seen plenty of rising prices linked with inflation data. But I’ve never seen prices return to pre-inflation levels. Companies determine that people can afford those high prices. Few will lower them to what they were.

What no one mentions about Trump’s repeated cognitive tests: Trump says again and again, proudly, that he “aced” the test each time. Here’s the thing. Trump lies. Any claim that comes out of his mouth about himself is exaggerated. It’s reasonable to believe that he keeps flunking the exams.
