Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good. I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

Today's jobs report is a reminder that tax cuts for corporations and the rich don’t create jobs or grow the economy. What's required is investment in working people — and better wages. When workers have money to spend, the economy grows and businesses create more jobs. Remember this.

Before any more bank bailouts, tax handouts to the rich, we should demand a debt jubilee. Our dollar is collapsing & we deserve to have our debts wiped-out for once! Mortgage loans, student loans, medical debt…. clear it all out! Then we could afford to prop up the economy!

As Christian Nationalist try to assert morality, poverty is the clear & obvious path to immorality. I lived in a “3rd world country,” and corruption, poverty, & lawlessness are the exact markers for a society in survival mode which leads to moral decay. Morality is reserved for wealthy nations.

While the USA terrorizes foreign lands, it creates more “terrorists.” While the USA crushes its own people, it creates more Luigi’s. Gen Z is ready to explode & they will be the ones to act on it.

When I see a bazillion warehouse spaces being built on every stitch of available land, and gobs of data centers in Central Texas, I see future squatter homes. It’s going to fail…. bigly.

You know, I barely use any of these AI “tools” available to me for free. Can’t imagine EVER paying for them either. So, is putting the brakes on AI about near future societal destruction of the workforce, consumer capitalism, etc., or is it because tech bros aren’t making any profit from it?

While America chased for cheap labor in foreign counties for corporate profit, it’s stopped manufacturing US goods. They bankrupted Detroit steel, an American icon for the automobile. Now our own farmers & food sources! Corporate greed has sold-off all our assets. We don’t make anything anymore!

We can’t print our way out of the failing petro dollar. Our GDP is solely based on stocks & debt. Financial wizardry, debt privilege & the ruse of the “market” is done & we have no out. Taking away the “gold standard” diluted the trust. Fort Knox is empty! Offshored manufacturing. We have nothing.

When Trump rages about proposed voter fraud, it’s always a confession. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Who suspects the Gary, IN blackout was a test? The ICE raids in MN was a test? The National Emergency declaration regarding power infrastructure a warning? I honestly wouldn’t put it past Trump to shut the US down right before the midterms. I’m prepping.

Testimony of lower “middle class” life. I had 3 mo’s mortgage money in my savings account. My safety net. AC broke down yesterday in the middle of a typical Aug TX heatwave. $12k to replace the 25 yr old HVAC system. Savings wiped-out (and having to finance the rest) that fast. Check-to-check! 🤬

I’ll trade you 2 gallons of water for one 12-pack of toilet paper. I’ll trade you 10 lighters for 2 bags of charcoal. Will you take 4 gallons of water for 4 gallons of gas? What can I offer for a few packs of cigarettes or some booze? Consider this barter system when Trump destroys our economy.

My final home purchase will hopefully be at least 80% down. Screw the mortgage escrow crap. Finance the remaining balance as a personal loan & pay the taxes & insurance on my own. Few people can afford to do this, but the mortgage business is a racket.

The billionaire/trillionaires don’t know what’s left to commoditize with their wealth, but they’re finding ways at our expense. This is a level of greed that will inevitably fail. They should just buy another mansion, yacht, etc. Profit from our air & water? Just insane greed!

How many of you still get birthday cards in the mail (versus texts)? Why is letter writing a lost art? Why have you allowed digital communication to replace more personal ways of communicating? Laziness or technology replacing such things? Even text messages result in stupid emoji reactions.

Part of what makes home ownership so hard is not only loan interest rates, but property taxes too. I propose property taxes should have a limit per home (per purchase) for individual home buyers (not corporations). Paying endless real estate taxes is insane. Cities can raise funds many other ways.
