I will have prints of several of my pieces available at Burncoat High in #WorcesterMA this Saturday as part of their Spirit of Burncoat celebration! Come have some fun with their other activities, too!

Hey there! Are you in the #WorcesterMA area? Come say hi to me at Burncoat High School on Saturday, October 24! I will have hand-bound sketchbooks, original nature art, and greeting card prints of my art.

Tomorrow I'm back on the trails with TWO potential hikes. So who wants to pledge to support me? Well, you're not really supporting me, you are supporting the TREES, the BIRDS, the INSECTS, and all the other life forms that depend on green space. LET'S DO THIS!! www.zeffy.com/en-US/fundra...

Hey, if you were subscribing to a monthly astronomy zine that is 12 pages long, what would you want in it? Stargazing tips? what's up in the sky this month? Latest astronomy news? Would you want it to be a digest of a bunch of different topics, or a thing dedicated to a single subject?

[UPDATE] Happy to see that astronomers, biologists and & conservationists filed a petition Thursday asking the FTC to reverse its approval of a for profit plan to beam sunlight from space to Earth at night, on-demand 🧪 Birds, insects and others rely on moon & stars to navigate, feed & more too:

nbcnews.comEnvironmental groups challenge FCC approval of startup’s plan to beam on-demand sunlight from spaceWhile the FCC approved only a single test mission, the groups argue it could pave the way for a much larger constellation of satellites in the future.

Isaacman keeps talking about beating China, building perimeters, and "city blocks" on the moon. Meanwhile, the NASA's moon base updates focus on all the science we're going to be doing up there, and cooperative efforts. So, which one is it?

Kimberly Cartier@astrokimcartier.bsky.social

That's really not the message I want to hear from the NASA administrator, to be quite honest

The brightness of Betelgeuse changes periodically. For decades astronomers had suspected that some of these variations could be due to a companion star orbiting around it. Now, the VLT has captured the clearest image ever of Betelgeuse B, a faint star orbiting Betelgeuse. 🔭 🧪 2/4

Very nice @aselrod.bsky.social piece on the MAGA Odyssey freakout and how it's all about telling "a story that cuts out the vast majority of humanity in favor of a few white men...to make that story the defining truth of the American experience." Everything for MAGA is about enforcing hierarchy.

Alan Elrod@aselrod.bsky.social

History isn’t just a set of facts. It’s a story we tell about who we are. My contribution to Odyssey discourse is about how the American right wants a history where only white men feature because they want a future where only white men rule. www.liberalcurrents.com/the-new-vand...

I had a wonderful time giving an #astronomy talk to kids at the Auburn Public Library in Auburn, MA. The kids were super engaged and enthusiastic to learn about life and where it might exist in the universe. They got to create their own aliens!

INBOX: the last dedicated science reporter at The Wall Street Journal, @aylinwoodward.bsky.social, has left the newsroom. This came after the Murdoch-owned newspaper dissolved its Health and Science Bureau last October. NPR, CBS, and WaPo also gutted their climate desks in the last eight months.
