Many product teams underestimate the value of continuous iteration within the same area. Frequently jumping to the next feature too soon hurts collaboration, quality, and domain expertise. Let folks wander, experiment, and come up with the next steps and connect dots with other areas organically.

With its low taxes, toothless courts and (de facto) nonexistent regulations, Bulgaria produced its own type of equality amongst its people: even if you get rich, you’re still in the same shit as everyone else.

When it comes to banning/restricting TikTok/social media, a lot of people focus on security, privacy and freedom of speech. To me however, the most important aspect is health. We must ban or restrict social media the same way we ban or restrict hard drugs, cigarettes and alcohol.

I was aware that some folks use Stoicism to create shallow self-help content or sell stuff like Memento Mori coins, but I had no idea that even Andrew Tate and the “brosphere” are all stoics now.

Much like when Jesus told everybody not to care about material possessions and now every Christian buys useless crap to celebrate his birthday; the Stoics were very clearly against vanity, ego, being a loudmouth, etc and all the selfish jerks and fuckups are now “stoics”. What is wrong with us?

Facebook is a social cancer. Our governments should be targeting it with much stricter regulation to make it abide by our norms and values — or have it leave our markets entirely. The days of Mark Zuckerberg shaping discourse and controlling communication must end.

I lost my confidence in some weird way over the years. I used to blog since I was a teen; I used to tweet, express opinions on topics, etc. Now any time I attempt to type anything into the abyss, I ask myself: “does anybody give a shit?” And my answer is always “no” and I almost never hit enter.

Relatedly, I’ve hated all them influencers ever since they sprung into existence in the late 2000s. Yet I kinda feel for them. Imagine spending hours “crafting” a tweet, a TikTok, a selfie or whatever only for it to be seen mostly for a second, mostly by people sitting on their (office) toilets.

UX resumes were all “passionate about solving complex problems”, and now they’re all “crafting experiences passionately” or whatever. Can’t we do better than cliches, buzzwords and trends?

My expectations about having a girl was that she’d be quieter and far more chill than my son. Now she’s 3 and I need a stun gun, bear spray and Jiu Jitsu skills just to brush her teeth and put her to bed, Jesus…

I accidentally ended up at a chili eating contest. The other day my friend signed me up for a chili eating contest while we visited a chili farm. We thought it’d be just me and a bunch of other randoms trying the farm’s hot sauces for the lulz…

… A bit before the event started I hear how 1 of the participants is actual chili eating CHAMPION and most others are regular competitors. Of course my kids were there and I couldn’t give up. So I ended up eating 3 chunks of chocolate with Carolina Reaper and then a whole 500,000 SCOVILLES pepper.

"Talk to customers" is the same kind of advice as "lift weights" — it's directionally correct and also lacking sufficient detail to be useful. In the same way that you can spend hours in the gym and see no results, you can spend hours with customers and get nothing out of it.

I really hate it when people use the word, “Empathy,” bc it’s a fluffy word that lacks practicality. People need to talk about the practice of figuring out nuanced intent, user behavior, what is top of mind in the micro-context, and how that’s translated into cause and effect.

In the age of AI, short form video and hot takes, the competitive advantage of the future is the ability to go deep, read the docs, build something new, learn hard things that take time.

Hi everyone. The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars. We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website. We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off. I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.

One of Bulgaria's billionaire goons and corrupt politicians (sanctioned by the US and the UK) only wears bright red ties. He also congratulated Trump and will lobby him hard to get the Biden-ear sanctions lifted. Recently, it sounds like he's adopting a Trumpian rhetoric, too.

The social conservatives of today are the liberals of the past. Today, there are openly gay / pot-smoking / of color folks who self-identify as conservatives in the US and Europe. A century ago, they would've probably been shot by the conservatives of that time.

Got an amazing job? Sure, you worked hard to make it happen. But also, someone who would've made a better fit (there's always someone) didn't apply at the same time you did. Perhaps they had the flu! Luck is a massive part of your success. Admitting that isn't impostor syndrome, it's humility.

"What will really cost us democracy is the attention economy." I relate with this so much and then I quote and translate it here and hope that a lot of people will see it because it is important. It's complicated.

Was uns wirklich die Demokratie kosten wird, ist die Aufmerksamkeitsökonomie.

Nowadays, if teenage guys want to get into harmless things like gaming/working out & sports/self-improvement, etc, a lot of the online content will slowly drag them into extremist right-wing rabbit holes. They won't even know it and don't have the tools to deal with that

You are up to date.
