My Galactic Racer review is up on startmenu! This game rocks and you should go read all my words on it. Now watch this drive.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a pulse-pounding racing game that injects turbo-charged fuel into the long-stalled genre with new ideas, a killer sense of speed, and a great presentation. @lsmewtwo.bsky.social reviews. www.startmenu.co.uk/home/review-...

I think I'm having whatever the opposite of a midlife crisis is. The paths in front of me are bountiful and flourishing. I have infinite possibilities. I'm an animal with too much prey grazing around the watering hole. Life rules.

I think the coolest thing about my time in games essays/journo/whatever is how diverse the opinions can get. Everybody specializes in something different. Horror guy says horror game is good, but general pub says it's meh. Life is just like the RPGs. Wow.

Developing an emergent gameplay feature where NPCs can come back after you kill them and develop as characters that add to the narrative tapestry of your game. Adversaries, if you will. I think I'll call it The Rival System.

okay, i rewatched and wrote about the cabin in the woods on flesh and fluids, complicity and consequence, and the catharsis of That One Scene it is illegal to say what i want to happen to fascists and/or those 'just doing their jobs' ashlikeadragon.bearblog.dev/let-monsters...

ashlikeadragon.bearblog.devlet monsters come for themthe cabin in the woods has stuck in my mind for years, for reasons i was long unsure of. it's not my favourite horror movie. it's not my favourite satire, if...

Casting a net of questionable size here, if you’re an ex-BioWare dev (or know of one who may not see this) working on something cool you’d like featured in a roundup at Kotaku, drop it below. Store page links helpful, and let me know what your role was at BW. Projects big and small welcome! RTs plz!

In 2016, we published potentially the largest single feature to ever appear in Game Informer magazine with a full oral history of the legendary studio, BioWare. We've made that feature available online following reports of the studio's impending closure. gameinformer.com/feature/2026...

One of my very early, shitty blogs as I was trying to bolster my portfolio somehow. Something I tried to do at the end of these pieces was highlight some standout memories from the run. I think I'd pick some different things now, but there's a lotta charm in here.

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

hey, i guess we're good to say we're in this now? i wrote about trans genocide. and also tied it in with something else that made anyone who read the essay tell me it was a 'gut punch' (positive) pick up lock on 7 to read it and many, many other incredible essays

Working on condensing my backlog down to the things I either NEED to finish, or that have been on my mind for a while. So far, I've got: - The three games for my capstone - Red Dead Redemption 2 - A pokemon marathon across every region - Super Metroid - Dragon's Dogma - and 3 games for essays

Every now and then I think about try to explore NSFW/erotic games to try and see what's going on over there and whether or not it's *just* porn, or if the sex actually means something serviceable. Then I look for games to choose from and 90% of them are gen-AI art.

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support 💖

Please do not take TGA’s rules seriously. Certainly not their deadlines. After all, they don’t.

Went to the local place I go to weekly(not the place in the post I'm quoting) after skipping last week. Got hit with a "Hey! Feels like we haven't seen you in a while!" and some good fucking coffee. I've finally made it. I'm a regular. I'm never getting coffee anywhere else if I can control it.

Worst coffee of my life but I will finish it to prove my strength and honor

if you’re a dev who’s been contacted by this guy on The Everything App, it is not me. it is a scammer. i don’t use X, don’t own sunglasses, and i’d kill myself before i appeared on a crypto podcast

The other Gamer in the office and I chatted about gaming, content creation, and other fun things that culminated in him saying that I should go ahead and make a video essay. The encouragement to do so has breached the real world. I fear this may be prophecy now.

i reviewed castlevania: belmont's curse for RPS! i didn't love it! look, it's okay. it's a fun action game. pressing buttons feels good. as soon as it starts pretending to be a metroidvania, it's a miss from a rose (sorry)

This is both insulting and a non-functional comparison.
