I have a new version of my Roller Skating NES-style game ready for testing if anyone wants to help me out! WASD moves and space bar starts/restarts the game. Cross the DJ line and get new rules that you have to follow. Get the high score or something!

Remember the brutal magic of Ghouls ‘n Ghosts? 💀🔥 Here’s a short clip of my prototype made in #GodotEngine — a love letter to that era of tough 2D action games. Would you play this if I finished it? #IndieGameDev #RetroGaming #IndieDev #Godot #PixelArt

That's just a cool idea. And a cool game. Done in almost no time for a game jam. #godot #godotengine

Picster (Raffaele Picca)@picster.bsky.social

I always wanted to make a multiplayer game for a jam and finally did in the last Ludum Dare 58 compo. White Noise Protocol - a co-op online game without a single line of netcode 🙃 Play it on itch ❄ picster.itch.io/white-noise-... #GodotEngine #LDJam #ld58

I need some help. Let's say you're designing a 2d jump'n'n run that has an indoor setting, like a castle. How can I make the levels visually more interesting if parallax BGs are not really feasible due to the lack of depth indoors? #godot #gamedev

1/ The strong female protagonist (SFP) – what is the problem? A long time ago, we had only a few notable strong female characters (Ripley, Buffy, Katara, etc.), which made them stand out and be celebrated. Now we have many SFPs, but they often receive backlash. Why? 🧵

8/ It’s not about “strong female leads” being bad — it’s about making sure they fit the story. A simple character works in a simple story. A more complex story needs a more complex character. What do you think?

5/ Take Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. She’s overpowered, has no real flaws, and that clashes with the story. But if you placed her in Commando, she'd fit right in. The problem isn't her strength—it’s how she fits the narrative.

3/ Take The Princess—it’s essentially a 80s action movie with a female lead. It works because it fits the trope. No one expects deep introspection from Schwarzenegger in Commando either. So the issue isn’t just character depth.

4/ That doesn’t mean depth is bad. Take Nami in One Piece (live-action)—she’s badass and complex. And that makes her even better. But when SFPs don’t fit their stories, that’s when problems arise.

2/ The common critique is that they are "too good" or "one-dimensional." But I don't think that's the real issue. One-dimensional characters have been a staple of many genres. You don't expect deep character arcs in an 80s action flick.

Here's the first release of godot-screenreader! It's a script that imitates the behavior of a screenreader in godot games so you can load interfaces. It's early in development but it has enough functionality to work with the TTS. #godot #accessibility github.com/badgernested...

There's a lot of confusion about the correct way to pronounce the name of the Godot game engine. Only one thing seems to be clear: the G in Godot is pronounced the same way as the G in GIF.

All the tutorials about testing web exports in Godot are like "You need to install Python and create a local server" You don't! It's built into the editor. Once you've set up a web export, click this new icon in the play bar and click Run in Browser. It's a nice time-saver for jams.
