Software developer who works on video game stuff. PAX Enforcer. You might have seen me defuse (fake) bombs. Hairy ball of anxiety. My posts are mine. Perpetually disappointed Seattle sports fan. He | him.

As I come back to my Windows machine only to find it has rebooted and now begging me to turn on OneDrive AGAIN with the only dismissal option "Remind me again in 3 days" .... is Linux gaming stable enough at this point?

iOS 28 feature request: the ability to mute an app so it can never take the iOS audio system (ESPECIALLY never take it exclusively) I will never care what noises the AT&T app makes. (More likely it’s their logo splash screen done as a video which takes the system audio session)

My therapist (who I have been seeing for almost a decade) is going out-of-network with my insurance starting in 2027. What a very cool system we have here. A+ work everyone

While I can see the use cases, it is fucking WILD to announce this while all the "LG Smart TVs are spying on you by recording" stuff is in the zeitgeist.

Apple quietly dropped a ton of detail about the Apple Watch’s new always-on don’t-call-it-transcription feature and it is FASCINATING. support.apple.com/en-us/148354

BitWarden self-hosting ... yay or nay? Mostly just figuring out how to do backups (I assume I can just dump the DB and shove it up with the rest of my backup scripts?) Also is vaultwarden worth looking at?

Weird OSS thing I'm not sure how to feel. I built a feature in a fork and posted about it on an issue in the original. No response for months, so I forget it. Someone opens a new issue and links my post. A 3rd person opens a PR with my solution, exactly, w/o credit. Not a huge deal, but feels weird

Weekend project: I like magic wormhole, but don't need peer discovery (I have a server, double-NAT gets in the way). I want a CLI app that I can give a file and it shares with a random URL and no foreground process. Files auto expire. Sit behind Traefik for TLS. Run in docker for easy containment.

I haven’t open sourced it yet since the code needs a bunch of cleanup. And it also needs config file support, right now most things are hardcoded.

Every time I open Cash App, I am greeted with this message of disapproval. Apparently they do not want to issue a card with the word “STOLEN” scribbled on it

My first software developer job was working on video ingestion and encoding systems. One of the test videos I used was the movie Clue. So that's the best Tim Curry performance.

I don’t know how true this is, but what I do know is that EVE Online was the best and worst 4 years of my life.

Today’s technical annoyance: my Quantum Fiber ONT was disconnected for 50 hours (long story). Reconnecting made it lose provisioning, leaving me stuck in QF’s walled garden. Support has a ticket open...but I want to know as soon as it’s fixed. So today's overengineered BS: github.com/LtHummus/qua...

This has been driving me wild. I have an Oppo Blu-Ray player with a chip in it that allows switching regions to watch imports. Changing regions requires a button sequence. I have a Logitech Harmony remote (rip). Doing the sequence manually works perfectly. Programming it on the remote doesn't. WTF

Ok I just learned this so I am passing along the knowledge...but if you're on Linux, you can sudo systemctl reboot --firmware-setup to reboot right in to BIOS setup. No more mashing the delete key for me (especially helpful via PiKVM)

But in good news, I have maybe a version of Traefik that supports ACME's ARI protocol for polling LetsEncrypt for cert renewal information?

Weekend project idea for anyone: a browser plugin that uses census data to put the Area Median Household Income next to people's posts.

If you are looking for a character artist, go check out my friend Ky's stuff! They are very cool and very talented

I sadly was impacted by the layoffs at Full Circle this week. 😅 I created the style direction and pipeline for all of the hair in Skate. If you see a hair in the world, I had a hand in it! If you know anyone in need of a character artist who loves a bit of technical dabbling, reach out!

I was looking at the instructions for the new Aptitude Covid + Flu test. I'm no UX designer, but why wouldn't you make Flu B positive a blue light!? BLUE FOR B IT'S SO SIMPLE
