Can the back of your tongue get irritated from shitty air quality? The last few days I’ve had this pain that switches sides where the back of my tongue meets my throat especially when I swallow or move it around.

I got up super early this morning to beat the heat and got another 6.2 miles checked off my IAT journey and completed the Sturgeon Bay segment which includes the Eastern terminus. I hiked that part of the segment back on Mother’s Day with my family.

Having friends is drama so much of the time.

I had a really busy June and with the July 4th holiday I ended up with an entire month of 4 day weeks. This is my first full week back and gotta say it blows.

I love that Dale Dickey got an Emmy nom for widow’s bay. She is perfection in it.

Another two weeks until my permanent crown is ready and I’m so sick of this constant toothache. If you grind your teeth wear a mouth guard.

Ice Age Trail update. I’ve been busy this spring and have completed 16% of the 1160 miles. Roughly 183 miles down. Finished up my 26th segment today and have another 4 in progress. Greenbush done and started Parnell today in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Super humid. Glad I got an early start.

With that quote I can’t believe no one has burned his farm to the ground.

Everybody’s watching Widow’s Bay right? I just finished episode 5 so I’m not fully caught up but what a delight Matthew Rhys has been. The whole cast is perfection.

I love that N is getting old enough that we can start inviting a friend to join us on vacations. We’re taking her and her bff J to Chicago in a couple weeks for a quick visit. J has only ever been to O’Hare so I’m excited to show her around. We love chicago as a family.

Planning to spend a few days at a “resort” outside Las Vegas before my 4 canyons hiking trip next year to get used to higher elevations. Going from 900 ft elevation to 7600 ft and doing a strenuous hike in the sun a day later? Yeah that’ll kill me.

I’m letting this asshole get sacked if I was on the team.

For my 40th birthday next year I’m going to be on a weeklong, all women/nonbinary person trip to hike in the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion NP!

Earned my first IAT patch by completing the Lakeshore Chapter Lakeshore Wanderer. I had to hike segments in this chapter’s territory many of which went along the shores of Lake Michigan.

29 miles over 3 days and I feel fucking fantastic. Considering how awful my feet felt during my first few months of hiking I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be able to hike for more than a day or two at a time. I wish I was hiking again today.

Got the coolest birthday present from the trail today. I turned a corner and 300ft ahead of me are 3 adorable black bear cubs. It was absolutely terrifying in the moment. Where was mom? I grabbed my bear spray off my belt and yelled out and they scampered off into the woods. They were so cute!!

Anybody know what corner of Bluesky is identifying various animal poops one may come across? It’s probably just dog.

After thinking my hiking trip was going to end up ruined from thunderstorms all week I’m really grateful the rain seems to be holding off until the evenings. And knock on wood no thunderstorms.

On the Wi/mn border enjoying a French 75. My first hike stayed dry and I even had the sun pop out.

I’ve heard of popovers. But until tonight I’ve never had one and omfg. They’re delicious. Why didn’t you guys tell me?!

My family is taking a hike with me tomorrow for Mother’s Day. My daughter isn’t thrilled but I am!

Appleton & Oshkosh are ditching the flock cameras but Green Bay keeping them. so glad I’m out of that shithole.

C just got promoted to manager! now I just bide my time until he becomes upper management and I can quit my job and hike full time.

Yay! I have my shuttles set for my birthday hiking trip in a couple of weeks.

Did the IAT Kettlebowl Segment yesterday. Got a shuttle so I was able to do this 10.2 mile hike all in one go. This also puts me at over 10% of the Ice Age Trail complete!

Having a Nazi tattoo, using slurs, and blaming women for being sexually assaulted should all be disqualifying for running for the US Senate. But alas. The angry white men contingent feels like they need to be heard, or whatever. 🙄

Of course I take up hiking and it’s the worst tick season we’ve had. Apparently there’s a new disease Wisconsin ticks are testing positive for.
