this is, by a wide margin, the most lavishly cinematic account of rollup's history www.youtube.com/watch?v=azk-... (assembled from bits of footage leftover from a forthcoming vite documentary that i got to be a part of)

It took a while but here is the next attempt to introduce object property tree-shaking: Please install rollup@4.29.0-0 and tell me if performance is ok and if you find any bugs with the generated code. Otherwise, I will take it live in the next days.

So yesterday I decided to risk breaking everything by releasing property tree-shaking for Rollup. One day and two patch versions later, we are down to one user reporting a hanging build github.com/rollup/rollu.... If anyone can provide a reproduction, that would be amazing!

Object property tree-shaking is about to be finalized in Rollup! Just released rollup@4.27.0-0 that handles some really tricky scenarios when destructuring getters with side effects, including mutating the destructured object. Play around: rollup-cwwshxnz5-rollup-js.vercel.app/repl/?pr=542...

If you are using Rollup's JavaScript API via TypeScript, you can now use explicit resource management to call "await bundle.close()" for you.

Just got the honors of processing a lot of donations to the open source ecosystem on behalf of the Sanity team. That felt really nice! ♥️

Huge thanks to @sanity.io for sponsoring Rollup with a whopping $3000! This really gives me confidence to keep making Rollup a great tool to use! opencollective.com/rollup/contr...
