…like if you’re Northrop or Lockheed, you’re PISSED, right?

To me the problem with the Cheesecake Factory discourse is that CF is more notable for its excessive menu than its decorations. If you want to make fun of a restaurant's decorations you need to go with TGI Friday's.

you can get this green smoothie at the store but it tastes too good. I want one that tastes nasty. I want to I actively dread putting this liquid to my lips. That's how you know it's good for you

The weird thing about this is, if you look into who is responsible for consumer spending in the US, it's older folks. TLDR: older people are keeping the economy afloat but I guess our merely-floating boat COULD be a flying car if they'd spend down their savings even more www.cnbc.com/2026/10/12/b...

I dont know why but i find myself thinking about Don Mattingly’s sideburns gag in the Simpsons All The Time

Dan Chibnall@bookowl.bsky.social

When John Middleton eventually fires Mattingly mid-season, they really need to recreate this scene when it happens.

Not about digger per se, but I once got very irritated with someone who was looking at their phone thru an entire movie then had the nerve to say its “pacing was off”

This post is unavailable.

I do think there are some movies that need deep attentional buy-in from viewers for them to work. These are an endangered species. (I have not seen digger though, so leave me alone abt that)

On the plus side this reminded me of the very funny fake Denzel Washington plot point in the criminally underrated film Game Night

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

Trump just fell for a FAKE Denzel Washington endorsement, sharing a fabricated quote claiming the Oscar-winning actor called him the smartest and bravest person he’d ever met. Even more embarrassing? The exact same fake endorsement has been attributed to Matthew McConaughey and Mick Jagger.

I’ve been haphazardly listening to Neal Stephenson’s Baroque Cycle books on and off for the better part of a year while doing other things, and I’ve come to the conclusion that this is not a recipe for “Understanding What is Going On.”

underrated: seeing a big dude you played rugby with back in the day, who you liked as a person but always assumed to be conservative, hearting an IG video of Jon Ossoff shredding his opponent

I think one reason it’s good to have a liberal arts education in the classic sense is that you don’t then spend time trying to invent the concept of “intellectual pursuits” from first principles

The charitable interpretation is that he’s just being incoherent in his attempt to say “high gas prices aren’t that big of a deal compared to the bad things that can happen in a war.” But even then… like, Biden got the boot for being far less incoherent than this.

Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."

Oh I shd add: Deisseroth’s work was (say it w me!) supported with public funding through federal science agencies incl NIH, NSF, and DARPA. And I daresay few political deciders in 2004 would have been excited to put algal proteins in HEK cells or neurons. Scientists knew, though.

$24.49 a gallon for gas in Noatak. I don’t know how anyone can afford that. Alaska families are being crushed by the unaffordable cost of living, and Dan Sullivan keeps on voting for the war that’s making everything more expensive. Alaska needs change.

As the midterms approach, I want to remind folks that pandemics have historically given rise to fascism The fear associated with death and disability on a massive scale makes it easier for authoritarians to seize power Vote accordingly Protect disabled & marginalized people. Get them to the polls
