Weirdly emotional seeing bands from 20 years ago like Youngblood Brass Band again. Maybe getting old also means understanding why people pay 180 Euros for the Stones.

The current U.S. administration is using AI to surveil the social media accounts of noncitizens for views it doesn’t like. We’re challenging that in court, and we just won a big early ruling. Read our deep dive on the decision: www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

eff.orgOur Lawsuit Against the Trump Administration’s Social MediaNo one should have to choose between speaking freely and protecting their immigration status. Yet that’s precisely the choice the Trump administration’s mass surveillance of online speech forces on

Quite funny how the "we rebuild the whole Adobe Suite for free" went to a subscription model in under two weeks. Almost as if developers still have to pay rent.

If you open a bar in Berlin where everyone has to leave their electronic devices at the door, I'll be your first customer. I wanna get drunk and have conversations without even thinking about being recorded by smart glasses, Apple watches or whateverthefuck is listening all the time now.

The decline in far-right social media activity after the recent Yandex drone strike by Ukrainian forces should give everyone food for thought. Ukraine isn't just defending itself, but all of democracy. Maybe act accordingly when you debate funding for Ukraine next time.

I can see now how the United States will end up in a situation where Trump will indeed declare a national emergency and take over the midterms. All it takes is people finally having enough of this dictator shit and a peaceful protest that turns (or gets turned) into a riot.

I'm all for messing with Adobe, but all these clones are missing the point: The issue never was a lack of alternatives, but if you use this in actual production runs, you don't wanna worry if there is a vibe coded import/export fuckup on page 208 of a file you're liable for.

that being said: great for people who bought a really expensive subscription because they thought it would turn them into good designers while all they actually did was crop pictures to social media formats. Affinity has been there for you for years – you just didn't know.

If you look at how stupid everything has gotten in the last years, I think the chances of humanity killing humanity vs. AI killing humanity are pretty much 50/50 at this point.

So... humanity replaced human travel agents with web UIs to now replace web UIs with AI travel agents pretending to be human? And this is the best use case you can come up with for your AI bots? I don't think I am particularly interested in this version of the future.

Listen: Why not save ourselves some time, cut out the middlemen, speed up the process and every human on this planet gets some Anthropic shares right away? I think at this point we all know they'll dump their debts on society in one form or another.

In the past days Trump has banned journalists from the White House, launched a White House app that tracks its users, put a military installation into another of his architecture plans, asked for the break-up of the International Criminal Court and announced potential war crimes in front of the UN.

I wasn't really surprised by the stuff Donald Trump pulled off as a president. The lies, the corruption, the moves to suppress free speech, it is all very much dictatorship-101. What I underestimated is how much of it the American People would let him do to their country.

The thing ppl don‘t notice with all the AI hype: AI isn‘t the solution for most problems in organizations of any kind. 90% is identifying and solving problems that have been there for years, and once identified, AI can be useful to resolve them faster. Old Problems, new tech. No magic: babysteps.

„Did you do your market research“ is probably something people working in crypto/blockchain should ask each other more often. Never seen so much money wasted on products nobody wants or needs.

Someone needs to make a phone that unfolds into a 70" flat screen so we can finally call it a day in this category and move onto the next phase of real innovation.

Looking at Musks new touchscreen car and given how tired I am of interacting with the world through glass panels all day long, I can see the sci-fi movie future where the hero rides around in a muscle car, because it reminds him of better days when we used to _actually_ touch things and it mattered.

AI needs regulation, there is no question about it. If you read the latest incident reports and research, it is quite obvious that this tech has been put into production way too quick with very little understanding of the risks attached to it. The AI Hypetrain driving the convo will not end well.

Major banks are now _all_ working on their own stable coin solutions. They'll bring the blockchain mass adoption everyone has been dreaming about, but on their own tech and without people even touching "old" crypto once. You'll see.

Hot take: I think AI in real estate got it all wrong. I wanna see the real thing and throwing ideas what to do with it around in my head is part of the whole experience. Generic AI renderings ruin that part completely and I actually stop looking at listings.

Glitch2 is now available to download and use for free, in memory of its creator, Kieran Foster. AKA illformed / dblue. illformed.com

My dear friend Kieran passed away on Thursday 2nd July. Many of you will know him as Illformed or dblue, the creator of the famous Glitch VST plugin. He was the most genuine, no-bullshit, kind-hearted, generous person I have known.

Not only will AI token prices keep crashing as DeepSeek and Kimi are pushing faster than anticipated, we are also already approaching the point where the number of ppl not needing better models grows rapidly. If you're spending $200/month to build a CRUD API with React Frontend, you're overpaying.

"If you build it, they will come" is what failing projects tell you to keep going despite missing traction. It never was true, it isn't even quoted correctly. It's from a 90s Kevin Costner sports fantasy drama movie (...) called "Field of Dreams" - look it up.
