I just got my results back from my Swedish language placement exam, and turns out I'm doing better than I thought! Sweden offers free language courses for immigrants with 4 levels, and I've placed in the final level. Now I should be able to study and "graduate" in no time ๐Ÿ™

If youโ€™re worried about the future of games, remember that your $ holds enormous sway. Support companies who actually care about the art and craft of making games, who put people first and value their employees & audiences. Support indies especially. The future doesnโ€™t belong to greedy corporations

I fully expect it to be janky as hell but honestly it's part of the fun with Bethesda games

The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be a return to Bethesda's "classic style" of games, according to Bethesda director Todd Howard. bit.ly/4c4LCSO

The Swedish Game Awards watch party was so much fun! Great vibes, cool people, and lots of cheering on Swedish games ๐Ÿฅณ Thank you to everyone who came out, let's do it again next year ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿป

Looks like the Swedish govt is going to push to apply the new citizenship requirements retroactively to all applications in progress when the new rules go into effect. So basically a giant middle finger to the 5 years I've spent building my life here and all the hope I had to feel secure in my home

The SGAs are next week and I'm still trying to figure out how to organize a watch party somewhere in town. It's fine, this is fine.

Most of our friends and coworkers who were affected by the layoff said goodbye on Friday. Today the office feels full of a tense stillness. I don't think this is the sort of thing you get used to.

Soup season also means crochet season. Do I have 3 other unfinished crochet projects collecting dust? Maybe. But what if I just make my first shawl instead of finishing any of those?

One benefit of burnout leave is I finally get the chance to rewatch Doctor Who and bake whatever random recipe I feel like each day. Small victories! (Today is the end of Season 1 and cinnamon roll focaccia)

Learning a new skill is not the hard part. Learning to be okay with sucking at the new skill is. My motto recently is "it doesn't have to be good, it just has to exist."

Burnout hard truth: you have no appetite, get tired of eating even simple things halfway through, and are left feeling guilty and like a failure for not being able to even feed yourself properly. And then you cry for 10 minutes over a half eaten banana.

The Until Dawn movie was actually pretty good! I think it's the best case scenario for an adaptation that kept the spirit of the game. There's no way a direct retelling would've worked for many reasons Not sure I'd like it as much if I hadn't played the game though.

The AI bubble was inflated based on the idea that we need bigger models that both are trained and run on bigger and even larger GPUs. A company came along that has undermined the narrative - ways both substantive and questionable - and now the market panicked that $200bn got wasted on AI capex

Can someone explain it to me like I'm stupid?

Update on my afternoon tea experience: I don't know how strong they made those brews but none of the 6 of us who went got any sleep last night ๐Ÿ˜…

We had a macha tea time at a local Asian inspired restaurant today and it was so good! The milky oolong was my favorite and the Lucky Cat cake tasted just like eating sugar cookie dough (10/10) Turns out there's lots of cool stuff to do if you leave the house every now and then

Okay I finally watched Severance, after years of putting it off. Yes, it's very good. Yes, I'm excited for this new season. Yes, I get why the only way to pitch it to friends is "a show about some people who work in an office but something's weird".

Waking up and getting caught up on the news coming in from LA. I hope everyone is able to evacuate themselves and their pets safely and quickly. Fingers crossed weather conditions play ball and make firefighting easier. That's really scary shit.

Back to work today. Who are these people, what are these meetings, what even am I doing? Tune in next time for answers to these burning questions and more

We did Christmas today ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ The first thing Robin did was label the cat, and I immediately forced them both to let me take pictures of them ๐Ÿ˜…

Adding a mildly warm take here to say that unless the game is misleading or severely broken, leave positive reviews. You can recommend a game while still including constructive criticism or good to know info for other players.

regular reminder that it's very useful to indie devs if you review their games on steam, especially if their games have less than 10 reviews. games can't have positive ratings on steam until they hit the 10 review mark, and they get a boost in discoverability when they hit this threshold ๐Ÿ™

I get accused of being AI a lot when it comes to player facing comms, but a lot of that boils down to being an AP student in hs, having a research heavy degree, and working in Corporate America with Enterprise clients for almost a decade before coming to games. (Tl;dr I'm old and boring)
