this is exactly why i've always hated the "don't make it their entire identity" thing as a basis for how to make "good" queer characters. if that's the way you want to write your character, go for it, but things like your gender identity and who you love, and the way you're treated for those things-

This is why I hate the “it has to be subtle!!!” Critique of queer media. The fact that we can’t just say what we are or what the character is is so reductive and constraining to so many queer writers. Don’t let cis people dictate how you show you identity. They don’t know what they’re saying.

anyway i'm transfem, errin and rose are a t4t lesbian couple, apollo is transmasc, and twig is also transfem while her fire spirit sparks uses both he/him and they/them. all of them are explicit and their gender identities play heavily into their storylines. if you don't like it; explode <3

- is an extremely big part of who you are as a person. sure, i have other facets of myself as a person beyond identifying as a girl, but that identity, and the struggles i go through to have it, are fundamental parts of who i am as a person. i would not be the same if i were cis, man or woman-

When trans creators are subtle, people dismiss the trans subtext as “headcanon.” When trans creators are loud and proud, people call it “obnoxious” and “cringe.” They just don’t want us to be represented in media at all. Because they don’t want us to exist at all.

recent bioware news is bringing a thought to mind if the right wing chuds were right and the reason studios get shut down like this is that they turn "woke" and hire a bunch of people who "hate gamers" why would the higher-ups shut down the entire studio instead of just hiring "better" devs.
