I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

#OtD 14 Oct 1977 anti-gay crusader Anita Bryant was "pied" by Thom Higgins, a gay rights activist. She then began praying and burst into tears. Following a boycott, she lost her job as brand ambassador for Florida orange juice. More LGBT+ history here: workingclasshistory.com/tag/lgbtq/

There's no way I can get a workable draft of my Golden Cobra entry this year ready in time to submit it, given everything else, but I'm grateful for the little bump of inspiration it gave me.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

Had a fantastic time at the Jerry's Map workshop at the Grand Rapids Art Museum today—we drew and collaged our own panels and assembled them together, people showed off their own maps and decks, and got to chat a lot with Jerry and Meg, who are just the best people. I need more of this in my life.

2 things, in ascending order of importance: 1) Polls are Possibility but they don't vote; don't stop working. 2) El-Sayed has Massive support in a mid-west rust-belt state while vocally supporting transgender kids & adults/directly Dismissing claims that trans people are "dangerous." Learn from that

Last four games played: - Electric Bastionland (conductor) - ̶M̶o̶n̶s̶t̶e̶r̶ Bounty of the Week (Weequay scoundrel) - Blades in the Dark (basically Ollie from Saltburn) - Wolves Upon the Coast (hapless fisherboy)

Share the last 4 TTRPGs you played and expose your gaming habits (Or don't. I'm not a cop). Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective* Mythic Bastionland Merryshire Detective Club Trail of Cthulhu *: if we eliminate this as being more of a board game, then, uh, Sleepaway I think.

Did you know that "yard" and "garden" share linguistic roots? Anyway, here's a bunch of ̶w̶e̶e̶d̶s̶ chicory that I just harvested from my tiny front yard that are going to get roasted and ground up into delicious not-coffee.

Blumineck lo ha vuelto a hacer 🥹 le aplaudo hasta que se me caigan las manos, bravo. "Be masculine, be feminine, be neither, or be both. But be kind."

We were on our way to the laundromat this morning and passed by a house around the corner from us with a handmade sign on it that said "Birthplace of Diana Ross" and we were like, sick hustle, bro. But then we googled it, and sure enough! (It's right around the corner from Doctor Detroit auto shop)

Finally getting around to watching the first few episodes of Game Changer, and I'm starting to fear that my game design brain has ruined fun for me forever.

I have a ton of board games, and I'm looking to unload a bunch both because I'm broke and because we're moving soon, and. I guess games are just really expensive these days? I was looking at the replacement cost for like, my unopened copy of Root that I bought for $40 in 2019 and it's $60 now? Huh.

I am bummed that the place we live now—which is smaller than our previous place—does not have a table or other surface on which to play games. I am double bummed that the next place we will live—which will be even smaller than this one—most likely will not, either. (Hobbies? In this economy? 😂😢😭)

(A John Wick larp that takes place almost entirely in the hotel, and a BSG/Den of Wolves inspired Firebrands thing with secret unlockable games depending on how you play through. NOT TODAY, though.)

I know folks in NYC, but I'm not sure who's around on Long Island these days... We'll be in Stony Brook till the end of the week, so it'll be nice to have some toodling time there.

Friends who make and sell games: - Do you have a "sell sheet" that you send to folks? - Do you have one for each game, or one for all your games? - Do you ever send them to folks physically, or just digitally? - Do you refer specifically to a distributor or your site, or just general contact info?
