Showcasing our New York classic from Helene Hanff - the acclaimed author of 84, Charing Cross Road. Adapted from a series of broadcasts recorded for Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4 in the 70s and 80s, this monthly diary charts the life and times of one most endearing writers of the 20th century 📚

The final detail - added to each book I post out to readers via our online shop - is a matching bookmark. They are more than just page markers; a snippet of original artwork from the illustrators we commission for each title #booksky

An illustration by Oliver Messel that I am considering for one of next year’s book covers - Letters from Paris by Dodie Smith. This work was inspired by the short story by Henry James - The Reverberator - and was a stage play in London, the sets of which were designed by Mr Messel himself!

It’s a big day today - our Halloween book is being sewn and bound at the printer and will shortly be on its way to us ready for imminent publication. Ghosts to the ready! 👻📚👀

Spotted in the wild at the Riverside Bookshop - Tales of London Town by Joan Aiken: our collection of magical stories for young readers all set in a mysterious, rainbow-filled “other” London 🌈📚✨

Four matching postcards for our four latest books. I pop a hand-written card in each book order placed via our website - my small way way of saying a huge thank you for supporting our indie press 💌

You are warmly invited to join us for a special candle-lit Halloween celebration of our brand new edition of Joan Aiken's ghost story - The Haunting of Lamb House. We will be at the beautiful Lamb House in Rye where the book is set. Do come along, if you dare! 👻📚🏠 Tickets here: tinyurl.com/u5yeu64j

To whet your whistle this morning: a few details from the vintage edition of our new Christmas book - Sledges to the Rescue by Raymond Briggs. We’re reproducing all 43 black and white illustrations and the full colour cover too (we love the sixties style sun, snow and sledges) ☀️❄️🛷

A few pen and ink drawings by Annabel Pearl - the illustrator extraordinaire who is bringing our new Halloween novel back to life. The Haunting of Lamb House by Joan Aiken references the ghostly apparitions witnessed by Henry James and EF Benson while living in this iconic literary house in Rye 👻

I took this book baby to Broadcasting House in London yesterday to make a programme for BBC Radio 3 all about The Moon is Making by Storm Jameson - our latest bestselling novel. There was chatting, outside recording and even music - with Bach on the viola to bring the whole package back to life!

From our bookshelf to your wall - we love our book covers so much we turn the most iconic designs into limited edition art prints. This is our rediscovered dystopian novel Woman Alive by Susan Ertz, transformed into wall art by one of our favourite illustrators of all time @tomgauld.bsky.social 📚🖼️✨

‘She looked all round, at the wide open space of "Dreamland"... Oh, God, it was all such a big muddle now. She’d decided to run off: and it had all gone wrong... She took in a deep breath of Margate air and fresh rain...’ - Break in the Sun by Bernard Ashley

We are preparing for Halloween this year with our most spine-chilling title so far. The Haunting of Lamb House is a modern gothic masterpiece, set in Lamb House in Rye - one of England's most celebrated literary and historic houses - and written by master storyteller Joan Aiken. Pre-orders are open!

A lost love letter to the North - our summer bestseller - The Moon is Making by Storm Jameson. Forgotten for nearly a century, we’ve brought this novel back to life for a whole new generation of readers. Set in, and inspired by, the small seaside town of Whitby 💜 #booksky #whitby

Three out and three to go - this is 2026! Manderley Press was a mere twinkle in my eye back in 2021 but five years later it appears we’re on a publishing roll. Here’s to an autumn on the sofa with a stack of rediscovered literary gems #booksky

Thanks for all the messages about next year’s publications - to confirm, there will be six titles and they are set in and inspired by the following places: Paris, London and London again, Norway, the English countryside and … Pompeii. I can’t wait to share more about them soon #booksky

Reading just these 4 books, you could time-travel directly into Iron Age countryside, Georgian Bath, the Channel Islands during WW2 and New York in the 1980s. And on your bookish journey you would be joined by ancient horses, imagined monsters, prize cows … and loads and loads of dogs. #booksky

Imagine going on holiday from London to a small town on Vancouver Island … and finding a table of your own titles in a beautiful indie bookshop! Thank you Sea and Summit Books - I am one happy, and very lucky, publisher 📚💕 #booksky

Stocktaking day! 5 yrs ago, none of this existed - even after 8 titles, I stacked all boxes at home - under beds, along the walls, taking up a whole room at one point! Now it’s all in a warehouse - it’s not exactly glamorous but it is my very own publishing dream come true: 16 titles, 16 pallets!

And @manderleypress.bsky.social has GORGEOUS editions of UNDERFOOT IN SHOW BUSINESS and LETTERS FROM NEW YORK. Be warned, ALL of their books are gorgeous and glorious. I'm saving up for UNDERFOOT IN SHOW BUSINESS, it's on my list of gifts to self when I get some extra cash. I have LETTERS.

Sun Horse, Moon Horse by Rosemary Sutcliff - our epic coming-of-age story set in Iron Age Britain, inspired by the iconic white horse of Uffington. This book has been a quiet #bestseller and we're coming to the end of our print run. The question is - should we reprint more copies? #booksky

Every single one of the covers for our six 2026 titles was specially designed and illustrated by a selection of the very best graphic artists from around the world. Do you have a favourite? #booksky #manderleypress

So you grow up in #Whitby, work in the Whitby Bookshop, move away in body if not spirit, republish a forgotten Whitby author whose novel is inspired by and set in Whitby. The circle is completed with this display of said book in the Whitby Bookshop. Joy! #booksky #themoonismaking #stormjameson

Coming soon to a bookshelf near you - a brand new edition of the original 1980s gritty YA novel: Break in the Sun by Bernard Ashley. This classic was set in Deptford and #Margate and tells the story of Patsy, a young girl who runs away from home. Inspired by #dreamland and #whitstable 📚☀️ #booksky

Happy publication day to The Moon is Making by Storm Jameson - back in print for the first time in nearly a century. It’s an honour to bring this Northern classic back to life - introduced by Maxine Peake - which is set in and inspired by the author’s hometown of #whitby #booksky

One year. Six rediscovered books, including: a memoir set on Broadway, a dystopian novel, a forgotten Northern classic, a ghost story in three parts, a gritty 1980s teenage adventure and a Christmassy heart-warmer for children of all ages from 5-99. Honestly, my job is a dream come true #booksky

What do you think about endpapers? We like to have fun with them, incorporating elements of the cover design or drawing out colours that match the spirit of the book (eg taxi cab yellow for our New York titles). These endpapers are for our new book set by the sea in #Margate tinyurl.com/2zu6hhf3
