Trying to buy watch party tickets from Brewers and it's just a doom loop of website authentication, WTF. Also, has there been a more convolution UI for ticket buying software? Manually un/selecting every section to check for seats. Never though I'd say Ticketmaster is better

More than 100,000 Ukrainians and roughly 2,000 Sudanese immigrants are bracing for the possibility they’ll lose their humanitarian protections by Monday. Pennsylvania has the second-largest population of Ukrainians and Ukrainian Americans in the country. From @statesnewsroom.com

I had two screenshots I wanted combined into one image but was feeling too lazy to open Photoshop and do it myself. So I asked CoPilot to do it. It took 20 minutes of prompting and correcting the AI over and over for it to correctly order the two images, top and bottom, into one.

Good news from the Badlands! Today, October 6, Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation, a Lakota nonprofit based on the Pine Ridge Reservation, plans to return 50 bison to nearly 40,000 acres in the Stronghold area of Badlands National Park.

Interesting internet debate of the day. And makes me laugh a little because whenever anyone says "DC Native" it takes me half a second to remember they don't mean "Native American"

This post is unavailable.

To be clear, that's not a value judgment on what being "native" to a place means. Just that "Native" is what I tend to call us (Native Americans) or refer to us as, speaking colloquially.

I love seeing your kids’ first day of school pics! All of them are beautiful! But saying this with my cybersecurity professional hat on: you probably shouldn’t be posting pictures of your kids. I’m sorry :(

I want people to understand the full impact of the devastation that First Nations in Canada are facing. It's NOT just that people and wildlife are losing their homes...it's the history that is being lost for generations to come.

Why do Dr's offices ask what kind of appointment you want to schedule? How would I know the categories you keep? Do you have a menu I could choose from? I'd be more than happy to book through Toast or whatever.

My favorite genre of social media content right now is "international sportsball fan discovers fellow sportsfan's country." World Cup has been fantastic. NFL's "football" exchange last Fall was phenomenal. Just, good stuff showing our commonalities and humanity, excitement and wonder. 10/10

I think one of the antidotes to this national dread is just watching one video after another of friendly and excited Americans welcoming people for the World Cup. There’s not a one of them that isn’t tear-inducing. A good reminder of what this country should and could feel like.

One of the wildest #USWNT games I've ever watched. The announcers absolutely made it. I know we're all focused on men's World Cup right now, but this game last night made me want to immediately buy tickets to 2027 Women's in Brazil. It's gonna be good. www.yahoo.com/sports/artic...

#EarthDay is always a reminder that I interviewed its founder, Gaylord Nelson, at a gathering for local Democratic candidates in the Eau Claire area on a weekend morning in October 1978. He was most gracious with a young, inexperienced reporter. We could use more public servants like Gaylord Nelson.

“Our goal is an environment of decency, quality and mutual respect for all human beings and all other living creatures,” Gaylord Nelson, U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, said on eve of the first #EarthDay. I wrote about Nelson's role in 2020 for @milwaukeemag.bsky.social.

This saga has been so infuriating. The city would rather have one person store their personal property in public space than see dozens of customers able to hang out, build community, and spend money at local businesses and restaurants.

The 51st@51st.news

NEW: D.C. made streateries permanent. But restaurant owners say the rules are too costly and complicated to keep them up. “The city values the revenue generated from a single parking spot over what that space can mean to the people who live here. That just seems like a failure of public policy.”

Equivalent to a 20yo today knowing who Elvis is, would be me in the early aughts knowing who The Drifters, Dean Martin or Perry Como was, which I did. I think a lot about how we knew what came before, and without the benefit of the internet at our fingertips. What changed?

Roxane Gay@roxanegay.bsky.social

Just walked by a colleague's classroom after my class finished and he was talking about Elvis, getting blank stares and so he had to ask "Does anyone know who Elvis Presley is?" It's rough out here on these teaching streets.
