People talk about Bluesky users "being in a bubble" like it's a bad thing but the more I think about it the more I kinda like it? A protective bubble I could deploy for me and my friends sounds great. I wouldn't want to be in it all the time though, maybe if it had a 10 second cooldown and 650 HP?

before the anxiety with comics used to be "I don't like how this looks or what I'm writing, so I don't want to finish it" but now the new anxiety is what if I don't finish it?? the good news is even if for some reason I don't, I can submit a re-hashed version of sparrow and wolves for the market ^^

sorry for no new art I'm currently In The Mines buuuut I will post progress pics/doodles every once in a while. my goal is to have this comic done by february so I can submit it to don's dead market ^^ ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

thinking about that person that said Grave of the Fireflies felt like imperial propaganda because it didnโ€™t outright condemn imperial Japan when like. Hey that movie is from the POV of two starving children

This is also how I feel about movies around WW2 like the wind rises which will get blanket-statemented away as being "fascist propaganda" because you're not compartmentalizing your War trauma into something that's digestible for liberals

I realize one of these statements is more vitriolic than the other but considering so many people EVEN NOW unironically believe that the bomb was the only way we could've ended WW2 I don't think I have to trust a person's opinion on anything

this stuff gets discussed in a serious Yellow Menace ass type way when if you actually step outside your social sphere you'll find plenty of people living in Japan, both historically and now, with thoughtful, considerate and in-depth thoughts about their country and the world!

it's "interesting" how japan is among the countries a lot of european and americans feel comfortable blanket-stating about politically and socially, but if you said the same thing about america understandably you'd get a lot of people voicing discontent!

look I'm not saying that Japan ISN'T conservative socially. It is. But I just think it's Interesting that in discussion its often said in a way that's like "well of course, they're All like that" which I think we can agree is a very misinformed way to talk without receipts!

Speaking from my field, environmental law, we actually are making so much progress despite all the news: renewable energies are more affordable than ever before and the technology keeps improving We also DID manage to eliminate the +6, +5, +4 degrees scenarios in 20 years: we need to keep going !!

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But whatโ€™s something that youโ€™ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Frankenstein's Monster: Father, I am lonely. I am the only one of my kind. Please make me someone who would understand. A woman. Frankenstein: I guess I can make you a sister. Frankenstein's Monster: No, don't say she's my sister. Now it's weird.
