Now that we collectively know about the "Jesus Bolt," I feel like helicopters as a thing should be withdrawn until there are more things connecting the propellors on. You want like five things minimum. I just saw a helicopter go by and all I was doing was waiting for it to drop

I say "token", because AI usage is literally a slot machine. you pay a token per-slot-machine-lever-pull, and hope you like what you get or you roll again. They do this thousands of times, and pay hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'm serious like when i say AI is a huge scam this is partly why

not to mention AI did the "first hit's free" thing by not charging for AI usage at first, but now that all these companies rely on it, they're driving up the price per token and now AI shit is even more expensive than regular filming expenses

I've just renewed our mortgage with our fixed rate from early 2022 expiring and it's costing several hundred pounds more every month now. Our weekly shop has gone up by £200 a month too. So thank God the Chancellor is bringing in a raft of measures that will save... *checks notes* £2 per month.

The funny thing is that if you were there when Muppet Christmas Carol actually came out, it wasn't at all seen as a sacred film, it was just a decent laugh and we liked it. But it was Muppets without Jim, which many already considered crass, or at least dodgily capitalist.

(not having a go, we loved it! It came out great. I just can't help feeling odd to see the Youngs hold it up as the original-and-best, when at the time there was a feeling that all the "real" Muppet stuff had already finished quite a long time ago)

Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I never: 1) have in my life read a Sonic the Hedgehog comic 2) miss an episode of STCTP

We thought there should be a definitive podcast about Sonic, chronologically tracking through the 90s and letting you relive (or first-live) a childhood in those days, with all really good editing and music and features and guests and stuff, so we did. It's nearly over: stctp.zone

[Linehan] You know what, I genuinely didn't know this. It's no surprise, but I didn't know. Interesting how they manage to hide the bigotry the oldies don't think is ok behind the bigotry they've managed to convince them is.

The Author, Séamas O'Reilly@seamas.bsky.social

This is not a "you didn't KNOW?" post because I truly envy and respect anyone unaware of Linehan's output BUT he's been EXTREMELY racist for years now. Attacking black actors on his wife's show Motherland as diversity hires; podcast screeds about muslims in Ireland; delighting in Palestinian deaths.

Funny how Friends or Frasier or whatever were tentpoles of UK culture as well as US, but now and then you'll hear an American mention something like "Night Court" and it's just... no idea m8. Someone simply decided not to air that here and that's just a thing we arbitrarily do not have in common

I've decided that when Super Mario started wearing blue overalls instead of red overalls is when we drifted from the light of God.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Used the extra hour yesterday to sort my sleep schedule out, and it worked ...turns out there is such a thing as too many hours in a day. Dunno what to do with myself. It's not even 4pm yet and it feels like 9pm

I wrote this trilogy about a family of ghost hunters, which is also about enduring love, and death, and socioeconomic neglect, and the small ways we can save the world.

It's Pipes, Mum! Pipes is here!@scriblit.bsky.social

The second trilogy is supernatural comedy adventure series The Rooks. Again, available internationally as paperback, ebook or audiobook. farragobooks.com/book-series/...

I spent years wanting Dizzy Dizzy Dinosaur. Something about the ad made it seem necessary and exotic. EVENTUALLY got it, played it once, never again. But not because I didn't like it. That was an epic day, and could not be replicated. Into the cupboard. Job done. That's enough.

Quite exciting to hear all that chat about the million-strong Whatsapp channel, but... why on earth did they tell us where the resistance hung out? It'll be meta agents in all our whatsapp conversations from now on and won't be replicable in a couple of years

My parents still have a comfy living room chair that's been there my whole life, so presumably predates the 80s. Their perfectly sensible attitude is, if it isn't broken why would we replace it? It is broken, mind

Darryl Mott@gamerstavernshow.com

That's the bit everyone gets wrong. They try to look like the 80s/90s and they pick whatever was in fashion or what was on TV show sets at that time. Most people lag about a decade behind whatever the furniture and decor trends are because they only buy stuff when they need to replace them.

If you've ever set foot outside the dead centre of a city, you'll know this is completely unviable. I barely ever stray outside Manchester, and even I find places every year with no phone reception despite being highly populated. I'm talking about town centres even.

This post is unavailable.

Mobile coverage in the UK is barely better than it was pre-smartphone. Part of that of course is that you gamble when you choose a service provider, will they *happen* to have coverage in the places you'll go? "Have you got any reception?" is the national catchphrase ("bars," if you're old as me)

Anyway, I don't have a landline any more and it's fine for me, and maybe I'm just feeling sad because the number for my parents' house is a sort of binary-cant poem about home, but the main thing is, they're telling us to stockpile for blackouts. Is this not the time to SET UP landlines?

Sometimes when I'm listening to a classic record from the 80s or 90s, I get ever so worried in case the samples weren't properly cleared! I certainly hope that if any paperwork wasn't properly filed, that my ability to hear this record is removed remotely by an Authority.
