Asymptomatic TB has for good reasons been getting attention, but this study suggests simply testing more symptomatic people is a more urgent priority. I suspect most people knew this at some level, but useful to have modelling that brings it into such clear focus.

Testing more people who report TB symptoms at public sector clinics is one of the most effective things we can do to reduce rates of TB disease and death, according to a major new modelling study. www.spotlightnsp.co.za/2026/09/23/t...

SA’s Constitutional Court has found that fair use provisions in the Copyright Amendment Bill are not unconstitutional, as some have argued. It is good to have that settled. The written judgement doesn’t seem to be online yet.

The court found most of the provisions in the bill that the President was concerned about are fine, apart from a small number of provisions relating to copyright exceptions specifically relating to education. Unfortunately, those few issues means the entire bill goes back to parliament.

This is an excellent and important series from GroundUp. Unfortunately the South African government seems indifferent.
