One hackathon team used marimo to turn an iPhone scan into a wheelchair-access check for small shops. Another used it to let scientists audit what their lab robots actually did. Both won. Full writeup below ⬇️

Major congrats to Mohammad Ahsan Fuzail, Brendan Giang, Kevin Lau, Boris Nezlobin, David Wu, Jerry Yan and the teams of Standard Physics and MIKMAK!

Shoutout to Pat Walters and OpenADMET for co-hosting with us, and thank you to all who participated!

How do you catch an AI agent that gets the right answer the wrong way? Acto built marimo apps that put experts in front of the evidence, bringing human review back into AI evals. Read the full case study below ⬇️

Use the infrastructure that fits your team. Docker on a VM or Kubernetes. S3-compatible storage or a filesystem. Your existing identity provider. Notebook files, versions, and metadata live in your storage backend. The notebooks stay ordinary Python files.

Organize notebooks into projects, share data connections, and choose who can edit, view, or use an app. Publish interactive apps for teammates, schedule notebook jobs, and review or restore earlier versions—all from the same hub.

Introducing marimo-studio 🎬 One notebook, infinite views. Turn an analysis into a report, explorer, or 3D experience, all using the web framework you choose. Every result stays backed by the reactive Python cells.

Studio gives you two layers: pick the notebook outputs and values each audience sees, then design the view with HTML, React, Svelte, or any frontend stack. Each view lives beside the notebook, with results wired to marimo cells.

Ship for the audience you have: pre-render chosen interactive states as static files, with no Python runtime in production; run Python in the browser with Pyodide; or serve a live Python app with `marimo run`.

Your agent can point back, too. Ask it to walk you through an analysis. Lens takes you from one output to the next, with a short explanation at each step. You move on when you’re ready. See how the results fit together and decide what to investigate next.

"Make this orange" "Why does this spike?" Just mark an output and leave a note. Your agent gets your selection, a screenshot, and the cell that produced it, plus its dependencies. Through marimo Pair, it can inspect the data, edit the code, and rerun the analysis.

If you are teaching, @github filesystem support allows you to provide assets for your students and read them directly from the notebook. Which means you can finally retire these `git clone` instructions from the class materials and reduce that friction.

marimo now supports @prefix_dev Pixi sandboxes! Share portable notebooks with dependencies beyond Python, including CUDA-enabled @PyTorch, ffmpeg and R. Already using Conda or Pixi? Bring your ecosystem to marimo’s reactive notebooks, with Conda and PyPI requirements saved alongside your code.

2. Adaptive UIs. Jev really shines in choosing UI elements depending on the context. Interactive marimo-pets widget knows which cell you're viewing and ranks the most useful tools for that code cell. Try here: github.com/ktaletsk/ma...

A feature a day keeps the builders at play, or however the saying goes. Launch week #2 starts Sept 28. 5 days, 5 announcements, 5 videos. What do you think (or hope) we'll launch? Best guess might just get merch...

Congratulations to our @CoreWeave Hacks "Best Use of marimo" winners, Standard Physics! Their prototype uses iPhone scans to help shop owners spot potential accessibility issues. Built by Brendan Giang, Jerry Yan, Boris Nezlobin & David Wu.

In “One shop, one knob at a time,” sliders reshape a shop and rerun the app’s actual accessibility checks. That link between controls and computation made it stand out. Notebook source (local setup required): github.com/Imhaohao/st...

For our cheminformatics competition, you can now win an @Apple Mac Mini M6. You have 1 month left to take a dataset and build a marimo notebook that brings cheminformatics to life. Competition details below.

33 days to win a mac mini. the challenge: pick a cheminformatics dataset and build a marimo notebook that answers a question you want the answer to. we're judging based on creativity, not on model accuracy. co-hosted with @wpwalters.bsky.social. we'll see you in our submissions 👀

What if you could run marimo notebooks for your whole company on your own cloud, behind your own SSO, with no database to run? We'll be demoing exactly that at tomorrow's community call 👀 Plus...custom web views. That's all we're saying for now.
