Healthcare should not be an industry. Education should not be an industry. Electrical and water supply should not be industries. These are public services. People who work to provide these services should make good salaries, but nobody else should make a profit.

Vance being interviewed by a dimwit Trumpologist gets to say any nonsense he wants.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

JD Vance: "I've not seen a single shred of evidence that Donald Trump participates or sanctions in that corruption ... I've not once seen evidence that Donald Trump has enriched himself"

Elon Musk is $267 million certain that Ken Paxton best represents his interests as the next senator from Texas. Do more than half of the citizens of Texas really think their interests are close enough to Elon's to make the same choice?

It's weird when the Department of Justice in the United States (and law enforcement in some individual states) is so broken that heinous crimes like this end up in civil court.

I remember junior high school, back in the 1970's when we used to call each other qu**r and h*mo as insults. Why is our vice president a thirteen year-old boy from the previous century?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

JD Vance: "I love you too sir. In a totally platonic way, to be clear. I'm the vice president, not James Talarico."

In three elections, Donald Trump never got 50% of the popular vote.

Pundit overread of 2024 as the birth of a multiracial working class movement anchored around right wing nationalism was disastrous for this country. It helped encourage lots of elite capitulation and caused libs/Dems to trim their sails. If this election buries that myth there should be a reckoning.

The only other nations in the world who carry out public executions are Iran and Afghanistan, the two nations we most frequently accuse of being barbaric. Strange how that works.

A revealing account about how scholarship, archaeology, and popular consumption of religious narrative works, from one of the most creative thinkers in our field.

1/13 We’ve talked a bit about Ron Wyatt in connection with Durupınar. Noah’s Ark was only one of an extraordinary number of “discoveries” he claimed to have made, but without any evidence to back those claims up. So let’s spend a little time with Mr. Wyatt. 🧵 #NoahsArk #Archaeology ronwyatt.com

ronwyatt.comThe Discoveries of Ron Wyatt - Official WebsiteExplore Ron Wyatt's archaeological discoveries including Noah's Ark, Red Sea Crossing, Mount Sinai, Sodom & Gomorrah, Ark of the Covenant, and Joseph's Pyramids.

My reading of Matt 6:1-6 is not the same as everyone else's. That's okay. I hear Jesus warning his hearers about putting their piety/religious practice on public display. Large swaths of Christianity resist this. People like Tim Tebow make millions of dollars putting their faith on public display.

Saying you are going to "engage culture" implies that there are times when you are not engaging it. It's nonsense, like deciding I'm going to engage the air today.

People of Tennessee, can we just stop trying to be horrible!

NBC News@nbcnews.com

Tennessee fails to execute the lone woman on its death row, Christa Pike, as planned, after injecting her twice with a lethal drug. Attorneys for Pike say that she is being treated at a hospital, but they did not know her condition.

Tennessee. Even when all we are trying to do is be the worst state in the country, we fail at that. Can we finally stop state supported murder?

Nashville Banner@nashvillebanner.bsky.social

Christa Pike, who was supposed to be the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years, is still alive after the state tried and failed to execute her on Wednesday. TDOC officials refused to comment after the state’s second failed execution this year. nashvillebanner.com/2026/09/30/c...

Can we back up and note that Eric Schmitt had apparently decided before this that tying his own political future to JD Vance was a brilliant move?

All In with Chris Hayes@allinwithchris.bsky.social

WATCH: @chrislhayes.bsky.social breaks down how a GOP senator tried to use a supposed Atlanta Hawks game to prove Jack Smith secretly colluded with Trump prosecutors—only to learn the texts were about the Iowa Hawkeyes game he attended 700 miles away in Maryland.

The guy just did the dumbest , most embarrassing thing in the 250 year history of the United States Senate, and he is pretending it all went according to plan.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

Senator Eric Schmitt is a fucking clown. He didn’t just ask Jack Smith if he was in Atlanta; he did a whole ass posterboard presentation trying to play gotcha, and it backfired because he doesn’t know how to fact-check. Missouri, do better!

The response when progressive policies that help millions of people are proposed... "How will you pay for it?" The response when the richest 1% ask for tax cuts, or banks ask for bailouts, or defense contractors ask for more contracts... "How much do you need?" It doesn't have to be this way.
