I think abandoned 9-1-1 calls should be followed up on by a well-trained human who verbally determines what's going on. What happens now is that if dispatchers have tried twice without success, police go to the address. And I know that's a drain on resources, but it sure seems safer than not going.

My apartment faces the river, but when I woke up I could see there was a tinge of colour in the sky. Grabbed my camera and wandered outside to the front of the building ... I normally don't like including overhead wires etc in my shots but make exceptions for pretty #sunrises.

Woke up thinking about the families and friends of those who have had loved ones killed or injured yesterday at CFB Wainwright. Any loss is traumatic but one that's sudden and unexpected brings so many challenges. I'll try to find some way to help. If we all do, I know it will be easier for them.

#NorthernLights were kind of a bust last night. I was out only an hour. I think I need to send my 18-135mm USM in for servicing. I could not get the focus sharp, even manually. The stars look like splattered paint. Also, probably spoiled after the great shows of May (G-5) and October (G-4) of 2024.

An actual new photo not taken with a phone! A hint of how beautiful autumn colours are around here, but it was raining, so I didn't spend much time out there. More indoor time this weekend, then medical stuff for a couple days next week. Fingers crossed I won't miss all of autumn's offerings.

There is still plenty of colour around ... just not so much on these trees downtown. With any luck, this bug will be clear of my system soon and I'll have the energy to be outside for hours.
