My new monitor flickers black occasionally. Lowering the Frames Per Second from 240 to 120 significantly reduces the issue, still happens every once in a long while. Got a new cord coming in today/tomorrow that should hopefully resolve this?

Well that didn't work. I've done a lot of fiddling with settings, resetting cords, and quite enough messing with things to try and fix it. Still blinks on me occasionally. Might be an OLED thing, might be I'm crazy enough to notice it thing. Still, usable until another monitor arrives.

For now, using the HDMI instead of the DisplayPort. 120hz is fine and all, and if this doesn't flicker on me I'll know it's something with the Monitor's port. Maybe. I'm not a techie by a long shot, I just don't want my screen to blink on me occasionally. Is that too much to ask?

Extremely foggy this morning. I mean Silent Hill's evil stepmother bad out there. At least I don't have overtime this weekend, so I don't have to drive in this mess.

I get home after a long day of work, and my main PC is not working. It turns on, nothing on the display. Checked the cords, they should be fine. Dunno what's going on. This is NOT what I want to have happening right now.

Okay, sometimes the display shows up, sometimes not, in NVIDIA's control panel. I can't activate it from here. Makes me think it's the monitor that's not working. Time to head to Best Buy, I guess.

Back with a new monitor. Everything's working right out of the gate. No swapping of cables or nothing. And it's a 2K 240hz Monitor to boot. Thank goodness for all that overtime, emergency funding and all that. Now to fiddle with settings.

Fiddling around with things, the PC is sending something out via HDMI and Displayport, but the Displayport on my monitor is not showing anything. So either the port has died? or the cord is bad? or the monitor is kaput? I don't know how to narrow this down.

@scalzi.com forgive me for the direct ping, but since you host your own blog, I think you should be aware of this.

If you self-host and run PHP on it (which is very likely) you NEED to update it later today, ASAP. A major vulnerability that affects PHP versions since 5 has been found, which allows remote code execution (very bad). You MUST retweet and share with friends who self-host. THIS IS CRITICAL. ⚠️

It got cold enough that I have to turn on the furnace for the first time this autumn/winter stretch. Thankfully, ALL the overtime has earned me a nice little safety stash of income for the inevitable sticker shock these next few months.

Moho's update means I can make VTuber models if I wanted. Now, the VTubing scene really isn't my thing. And I'm not afraid of showing my face on camera. Buuuuut maybe it's worth fiddling with the new toy. For FOOLish reasons.

At the dentist. Routine cleaning, nothing terrible. Should be in and out within an hour or so. Hope to get home in time for work, cause traffic around this area is thick with construction today.

Being offered a week on day shift temporarily just because my machines are down for a while. I mean, sure, I'll take it. It's either that or use PTO cause it's so danged slow here. And I'm saving PTO for Evercold when it comes out.

Yesterday, I decided to finally getting around to watching Columbo. First 5 episodes down of season 1, and even with the early installment oddities, this show is pretty darned good.

And now the incredibly long week of downtime at work. Lots of little cleaning things to do while maintenance and calibration is happening. Good news oughta be no overtime this weekend. Outghta be, I hope...

Seeing some wedding photos of some YouTuber/Twitch Streamers got me feeling sad. I'm happy for them. Really, I am. But it's depressing seeing these people achieve their dreams and goals while I just.... can't for some reason. "Gotta get this off of my chest" thread/rant incoming:

I guess this is my midlife crisis. Stuck in a rut with no way out, and no time to work on one either. Things aren't desperate. Financially I'm doing very fine. It's the emotional wear and tear of coming home with no energy for important hobbies that's getting to me. Or a shoulder to lean on.

Right that's enough of that. Do I have any good images to end this thread on a lighter note? ... Nope, too busy with life to even have funny new pictures...

But this job pays in good money as opposed to promises from directors that end up breaking and uncertainty. And as I'm very my 40s, I know full well getting into acting in the middle of my state is near impossible. I want to make people laugh, smile, cry, and think. Yet I have no time for that.

As for romance and such, same thing. No time for it due to work, especially with constant overtime. No one wanted me when I was readily available either. And online dating is no Bueno. Too many false profiles and scam and whatnot. Doesn't help being very neurospicy and also ace to some degree.

Stopped Twitch Streaming a while back cause no one was watching regularly. Picked up animation again after that. It's hard work and lengthy hours, but more people watch that stuff than my VODs and Let's Plays. The stats on my end show that. With all this constant overtime, I have no time for that.

I would LOVE to quit this job and just go into entertainment full time. I've tried breaking into the industry for years after college. No one wanted me. If I'm to succeed at it, it must be done alone. Yet if I don't have any time to make things, I can't get the audience I need to quit my job.

Another weekend of overtime. Hopefully next weekend is a well-deserved break. Still have stuff to do, but at least it'll be on my terms instead of my employer's.

The moment I got to work, I'm SWARMED with requests. Boss took the day off, manager is off site, and I'm still waiting for this hot job to get here from across the state. The urge to quit and live life alone in a cabin is strong today.

Just hit the credits on Dressmaker. Fun little game overall. Lighthearted humor is the highlight for me. Now back to my regular dose of hardcore action games and- Oh who am I kidding? I play FFXIV, fashion is ALWAYS the endgame.

An half hour into my shift and I'm fed up with work already. There's another weekend of overtime coming as well, I can feel it. Sure feels like I'm stuck in a rut with no way out.

Email in my spam filter. Was an offer on trading in my vehicle. Ah, makes sense, just had the oil changed and whatnot. Claims that if I wanted my monthly payment from when I had a loan on the car to be the same after trading it in, new or used car needs to be around $16,750 USD

Now out of curiosity, I looked up what they had in the lot. Used cars? Around 150 under that price. Including some really old duds of vehicles. New cars? Not. A. One. Which I was expecting none. But also MAN these new cars are expensive. Less maintenance than a used one, though.

At the car dealer's shop for the annual oil change, tire rotation, the standard. Here's hoping they find nothing dire, car's been good to me overall for 12 years now. Couple scares here and there, mostly under warranty back in the day.

Guy came in- "We're almost done, but we wanted to show you your cabin air filter." You want me to pay you guys to do the EASIEST replacement in a car? Told him "Nah, I've done it before." No further questioning. It's a quick glove box open, swap, and done job. On the to do list it goes.

Been getting blank voicemails these past few days. 45 seconds of silence from random numbers. My guess is poltical auto-callers, the main election is a month from now. This is going to be an annoying month.

Seeing on Reddit that MSU won vs Wisconsin! 3 to 21 .... wait... Something got bugged on the Automoderator's end. Jeez, both UofM and MSU just NOT having a great time right now. I don't really follow sports, college or otherwise, anymore. Still hope my Alma Mater salvages the season. Somehow.

I might have a free weekend soon. Mostly because the machines I use will be down for maintenance. Gotta use that time for catching up on projects, cause otherwise I'd be cleaning and fixing things around the house. And I don't wanna be stuck doing just that.

Lovely. Went to bed early to try and get some good night rest, try and get used to morning routine for the month. Power goes out middle of the night for no reason and throwing off my whole sleep schedule cause I couldn't fall back asleep.

It's been a week. I have seen no speedrunning attempts of "Dressmaker" at all. No Any% Story runs, no Ruffle Dress 100% Quality Runs, nothing. Do I have to do this myself? >,>; I don't have time, unfortunately.

Nearing the end of the month, and I'm basically all set with the NEW script for April Fool's Day next year. Now to make the animation models by the end of November. With constant overtime and no end in sight, this might not be possible. I'll still attempt it.

So many need-to-do things piling up. So little time. And also the want-to-do things. That I've put off for months now. Years, even. Downside of being single and constant overtime at work: Little time for anything else and no one to help out where able -_-;

Another Wednesday before another overtime weekend. And coming soon the month of morning annual obligations like car maintenance and dentistry. Can't stay up late to catch up on personal projects cause of those. Nor am I a functional morning person. I'm doomed to miss my self imposed deadlines.

I'm a MANLY MAN who likes MANLY things. Steak and potatoes. Mowing the lawn. Complaining about my Football team. The WORKS! ... I played four hours of Dressmaker last night with a Discord friend. Game is funny, lighthearted, and surprisingly in depth with what it does. Highly recommend.

Trying to find time for my April Fool's plan for next year. And now that ideas side of my head is going "OOH, what if we shift the WHOLE thing over to this idea instead?" And worst of all, it kinda makes sense given how overtime is just never going to end it seems like.
