Write embedded drivers without the MCU in your dev loop. Pico de Gallo turns a Pi Pico 2 into a USB-attached I²C/SPI/UART/GPIO/ADC/1-Wire bridge, so your driver is just a cargo run binary talking to real silicon from your laptop. Build one for your chip → balbi.sh/posts/writin...

balbi.shWriting embedded drivers without an MCUTreating a sensor driver like normal software: a real I²C bus on your laptop, the upstream driver crate unmodified, and a live ratatui dashboard around it.

Just arrived in the Netherlands for #RustWeek. I am incredibly excited to be heading back this year for a whole week of #Rustlang events. My experience last year set a high bar: fantastic host city (#Utrecht), great venues, and flawless organization (#RustNL). It’s a brilliant event.

The real highlight is the community itself: a unique mix of incredibly smart, kind, and collaborative people. If you are attending the conference or participating in the Rust Embedded Work Group Unconference, I’d love to connect.

Whether you’re working on embedded systems, bare-metal firmware, or just want to chat about the future of the ecosystem, let’s grab a coffee and catch up! See you there!

wanna hear about what it's like teaching Rust in higher education? learn about the embedded scene? the hippy lore of unconfs? all that and more in the interview with Bart Massey! (video below)

🦀 I've improved the implementation behind all the string formatting macros in Rust: println, panic, format, write, log::info, etc. (Everything using format_args!().) They will compile a bit faster, use a bit less memory while compiling, result in smaller binaries, and produce more efficient code! 🎉

People always ask me “so is AWS using Rust?” Happy to be part of this article shining some light on how Rust is changing the way services are built in AWS.

Hey, if you're a Rust and/or embedded person, and you use the probe-rs toolkit (pretty much everyone does in embedded and Rust!), you'd be doing me a huge favor if you took a minute to fill out their survey and/or share internally or with people you know: forms.gle/FRtUwuFCCKgK...

forms.gleprobe-rs needs your feedback!Take this 5 minutes survey to help us better understand how you are using probe-rs, an open-source debugging tool for embedded systems. Thanks for helping us make probe-rs even better!

Chris and Steve claim jj is easier than git. I think this needs to be qualified, or it will invite some backlash. For new users, particularly those coming from git, I don’t see jj as being inherently easier than git for the most basic operations. Beyond that, I understand what they mean.
