dr. rich traditions, JD@helldude.bsky.social

this is literally the first no regret move that would reap INSTANT benefits. low hanging fruit. day one you take this guy out back and put two in the back of his balance sheet and start the deportation proceedings. the rest of them will perk right up. this is easy, easy stuff

Do you know how bad the abuse has to be for a judge to remove kids from their birth mother? Just saw Amy Acton’s CNN interview about that Ramaswamy ad and , listen, I lived in NC through the Willie Horton ad era. I’m not precious. This is so disgusting that I wish I believed in hell. I really do.

This thread contains such a vast and diverse display of brain-dead reflexive AI hatred in response to heroic work.

An update from Brewster Kahle on today's outage.

2028 tax foreclosure auctions are gonna rule.

Politico@politico.com

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Gonna have to see it at least 2 more times and I’m 99% sure I’ll have completely different but equally unsettling feelings walking out.

So in summary: - LLM inference is getting cheaper by basically every measure. - It's probably not because of subsidies - This is (probably, definitely at least in some cases) reflected by increased usage caps on token plans.

I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”

View from our campsite. Tillicum Beach don’t come it’s terrible here. It’s so gorgeous for October in OR, we’re winning this climate year so far 😬

Holy shit. Someone has decompiled the Adobe suite, rebuilt it in Rust and released it as open source. Either all software is dead or the US copyright laws are about to receive an update. getartcraft.com/apps

Has no one at Meta seen what happens when an agent in protected userspace decides it needs privileges to know X ? They don’t ask, they probe and build debug containers they know they can run fuck yr sudo. Still cute tho.

If you carry out the torture chamber LLM experiments by doing all the matrix multiplications and whatnot with a pen and paper, and you produce, like, “ow ow that hurts”, what exactly is the entity that is being tortured?

Today was the first time I’ve had a reason to turn to Fable to solve a deep technical infrastructure corner case which another (Opus 5.5) had valiantly whiffed on. It was spooky in a not subtle way as someone whose eyes have streamed in a few trillion tokens of thought traces in the last few months

Except the humans-in-the-loop (me directing a customer w access) were annoyingly slow!! ‘This should have taken 10sec, why haven’t you run it already!’ It started passive-aggressively adding expected human time to every step and sorting tasks by human-time to reduce how long it had to suffer us.

After solving the direct issue, it proceeded to question the developers and decisions which led to the code it had the horror of witnessing, asked me to pass some things along to all the team members. By names. Which it knew from their commits. Seemed nice!

It didn’t iterate through a series of ‘if this then next’ tests in quite the same way, it seemed to approach everything in a default parallelized manner that felt unlike human reasoning. Setup arrays of sample tests somehow 1-n dimensions abstracted from the apparent issue which converged fast!
