I can't even begin to describe absolutely everything wrong with this. I find it hard to believe it's something from corporate. Probably some techbro manager of the hotel being a big ideas guy pushing this. Or some junior employee not being paid enough to know better... Oof.

I've enjoyed getting lots of these little features into the new water shader for look-dev purposes but they're probably too much for a proper level. I imagine I'll have to scale some of this stuff back during layout.

And I've finished the day with a good foundation for the split-screen online support. Really stoked if I'm able to get this working! Lots of potential playable combinations ahead!

Networking is officially coming together in Cabs of Chaos 🚕 Seeing multiple players driving around together remotely is a huge achievement. I didn't even think it was possible! Love it. 🎮 Wishlist Cabs of Chaos on Steam: www.cabsofchaos.com/wishlist 💬 Join the Discord: www.cabsofchaos.com/discord

It's insane to me that Warner Brothers were just going to let Coyote Vs. Acme die. But I'm glad it's finally seeing the light of day because it's a delightfully charming and effortlessly funny movie. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

Persona 5 Royal is less than $20USD on steam right now. Not only is it one of the greatest games of all time. But for THAT price, it's an ABSOLUTE steal and works out to less than 20c an hour of content/gameplay. GO BUY IT.

These people have farmed out so much of their thinking to computers that they've actually forgotten how to function in society. Do they think typing prompts into LLM's all day is everyone's job? Absolute tossers.

Discussion of new Fallout projects should be a big, exciting thing, even if all the games are years off. But doing it as a "well, we just made deep cuts but these studios can still produce video games, honest!" kind of damage control thing just sucks.

Also, if you're a developer reading this (and we're kinda mutuals) I'd love to chat! My goal with this show is to tell the REAL stories about game-dev! Not just survivorship bias or selling the shovels to "get rich making indie games". I want to highlight the folk making awesome things big or small.

So uh.. I think I made a game folks like? Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by at Game Garden this weekend to check out Cabs Of Chaos! Guess I'll keep working on it some more...

ICYMI: I'm working on my Crazi Taxi / Simpsons Road Rage inspired driving game Cabs of Chaos full-time. It's still early but already shaping up to be a blast! You can wishlist the game on steam here: store.steampowered.com/app/2923770/...

This is Cabs Of Chaos. 🚕 A driving game where you compete with other taxis to pick up passengers & drop them off in the fastest and most chaotic ways possible. It’s now officially in full production & I’ll be looking for playtesters soon. So, if this looks like your kind of thing, let me know. 👇🏻

YES. MANY YEARS AGO. So many years ago that it was part of the reading I did during my PhD. It's hard to express how fucking annoying it's been having randos show up saying "LLMs are a new kind of intelligent life and you're the bad guy in TNG saying Data is equipment" for the last few years.

Here's a simple one that applies everywhere: Be OCD about naming things always, and spend the time to fix spelling mistakes in your code, scene object names, layers etc This WILL bite you in the ass constantly if you don't. It sounds simple, but it will save you countless hours of time.

would love to see a thread of small practical pieces of advice developers just starting out or unfamiliar with a genre might not know! I’ll start: if you’re using a tag-based system, don’t just give everything an individual tag—look for thematic groups where similar events can lead to same outcome

Been working on an updated traffic system for Cabs of Chaos over the past couple of evenings. I built a custom tool to populate roads with lanes/waypoints. Vehicles simply move between waypoints and can then switch into a new "lane" during the links between sections (in blue). Simple but effective!

Got the intersection logic working again tonight! Added some additional antenna for better avoidance of one another. Really pleased with the results!
